Today as a nice relaxing Friday activity, I would like you to create a Story map of the Jack and the Beanstalk story. You can either use the template in the resources section or draw one of your own.
When creating your story map, make sure you can re-tell the story by following the pictures, making sure to include lots of those lovely adjectives that we’ve been working on this week.
Phonics
Today we would like you to go over and write as many words as you can remember that have come up this week in your phonics learning / new sounds.
If you would still like a spelling test and would like to challenge yourself this Friday morning, then ask your parent or guardian to select 10 different words from your 'Year 1 Key Words' list. Good luck!
Once completed take some time to recap on any sounds you need extra practice with by accessing
‘Phonics Play’ or an ‘Alphablocks’ episode.
Spellings for next week will be back to normal and will be found in Monday's (1st march) home learning resources.

Foundation – PE
This term, in school, we will be using some of the throwing and catching skills and putting them into effect in a game scenario, playing the sport of dodgeball. Now you might not have enough people /players to have a full game at home, so until we are all back in school (very soon hopefully) you can practice honing your throwing and catching skills using the videos that we have uploaded recently; the one skill that we never got chance to practice last term during our Ball Skills topic was bouncing the ball. So please follow the link below and have a go at bouncing the ball correctly:

Just to get you all excited for more dodgeball when you all get back into school, please feel free to have a look at the dodgeball video below to check up on the rules:

Foundation - Science (Plants)
This term in Science we will be looking at a new topic – Plants. We will again be using the National Oak Academy for virtual lessons and there will be lots of interactive resources and experiments for us to have a go at. For the first lesson, we will be planting a bean (you can use a seed or a bulb if you have these at home); we will need soil, stones, a pot and a kidney bean (seed, or bulb) but if you do not have these resources available, you can watch the video of a bean being planted online. During this lesson, we will be looking at what a seed needs to be able to grow into a healthy plant.
https://classroom.thenational.academy/lessons/how-do-i-plant-a-bean-cgwp6e
Please do not feel the need to print off all of the different worksheets, you can simply answer the questions on a piece of paper instead if you prefer. For those of you who are planting a bean this week, please feel free to send them in to the Year 1 email address and we can share them on the blog. There is also a ‘cut and stick’ sequencing activity for you have a go at, which clearly shows the order (sequence) for planting a bean / seed.
