Jewellery and Earrings
The wearing of jewellery including earrings is not permitted. However, some exception is made for medi-alert items and religious artefacts.
If children are going to have their ears pierced, please have this done at the beginning of the long summer holidays.
If children do have their ears pierced at any other time, they must wear plasters/tape over the studs at all times. This responsibility remains with parents and children.
Once the hole is healed, ear studs/earrings must not be worn for school at any time.
Medication in School
We do not administer medicines in school except for children on long-term dosages for serious complaints. Paediatric antibiotics and other medicines for minor complaints can be prescribed on a three-times a day basis, i.e. before and after school and at bed time.
The medicines will be kept in a safe, locked place, in the Deputy Headteachers office (or fridge if applicable). A register of dosage and time taken will be kept in school.
Care and Control of Pupils
If staff become aware of, or have need to become involved in, situations where a child may be at risk of hurting themselves or others, or if the behaviour of a child seriously disrupts good order in the school or causes damage to property, staff may need to take steps to intervene physically. In such circumstances staff will follow the school’s policy for dealing with such situations. Any parent wishing to view this policy may do so on request. Staff have received up-to date training in the use of appropriate ‘care and control’ strategies/techniques.
Asthma
We have a clear asthma Policy with well-outlined ‘Procedures for Dealing with Asthma’ located in every classroom.
This Policy and Procedures can be viewed upon request.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
