Topic – PE
Again, for this week’s PE, we have left the links for several different resources that we have used during lockdown; I hope you have all been very busy and I look forward to seeing you all next week where we can all be active during our PE lessons together (and we can throw dodgeballs at each other!).
In addition to all of the resources provided below, please try and have a go at the ‘Virtual Steps Challenge’; see the video of our staff having a go on the blog (can you spot Mr. law and Mrs. Mears?) and you will find more details at the top of our Blog about tracking your steps. I wonder how high you can get in 30 minutes today (maybe split this into 3 different sessions, each lasting for 10 minutes?)
Please use the following links to access some PE / Physical activity this week; Lancashire Sport have provided you with resources again to use (I have kept the School Games Challenge up from last week for those who might not have had the chance to complete it yet); there is a dance option link and please try and be extra active this week and have a go at one of the other activities linked below:

Tuesday 2nd March
English
As we had lots of ‘talk for writing’ opportunities yesterday, you should now be ready to start your writing. Today you will be writing up to the part Jack returns home with his magic beans and his Mum is furious, then she sends him to bed. Talk through your story board again to make clear what your first sentence is going to be. Make sure you start your story with, ‘Once upon a time’.
Throughout all your writing this week, make sure you always refer to this checklist.
As this is a main story piece and will be worked on throughout the week, you can use a home learning book or piece of paper to complete this task as it is a continued piece of work.

Topic – Geography
This week we are continuing our learning of the UK. Hopefully you will have remembered the UK countries and their capitals. If you need to look at Google Earth again to remind yourself, then please do.
Today you have a creative task; we would like you to create a rough outline of the UK using string/wool or anything else you might like to use. This activity is entirely open ended, it’s completely up to you as to what scale/size your creation will be. As long as you have the outlines of the 4 countries, that is the main thing. Once you have created an outline of the UK I would like you to label the country and capital. If you have done a large scale design outdoors then your task might be to jump from one Country/Capital to another as a challenge. Have fun with this and take some pictures to send to us, we would like to see how you get on.
Monday 1st March

English
Today in our English lesson we are going to be using our story Maps from Friday’s lesson to do a ‘talking for writing’ activity. Talk for writing is a really important strategy in English as it helps the children generate good vocabulary and include this is good sentence structures.

See if you can do this using your story map. Don’t forget to include saying/ acting the punctuation.

Topic – Science
Continuing with our new topic of ‘Plants’ we will again be revisiting the wonderful National Oak Academy for another virtual lesson this week; again there will be lots of interactive resources and experiments for us to have a go at. Last lesson, we all planted a bean and we have been checking our pots all week to see if we can see any changes. The weather has been a little milder and we are hopefully going to see a few changes soon (also, can anyone remember why it might be starting to get warmer outside? Think of our seasons and how they change…). Have you managed to see anything happening with your seed yet? Please do let us know or maybe even take photos of them.
This week our science lesson will be looking at what types of plants grow in the wild; perhaps you can have a look in your garden at some of the plants and then compare these to the ones you may see when you go for a stroll in the countryside or at the park, are they different? Please use the link below to access the next lesson:
https://classroom.thenational.academy/lessons/what-types-of-plants-grow-in-the-wild-70w3jt
Please do not feel the need to print off all of the different worksheets, you can simply answer the questions on a piece of paper instead if you prefer.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
