Snow Fun In School
The children had lots of fun this week with the snow and ice.
We decided to investigate how we could melt the snow.
We tried with our gloves, with salt and with warm water.
Our prediction, that the water would melt the snow the fastest was correct!!
Our new topic this half term is buildings and homes. The children have been working really hard this week, they are making super progress with their reading and writing and have been introduced to a new spelling book. In Maths we are now working with numbers to 10. As a reward for all their hard work, the pantomime 'Cinderella' came into school. It was a big hit with all of the children.
The children enjoyed Christmas party day, lots of brilliant Christmas outfits, tasty party food then fun and games. To finish off the day we had a special visitor, Father Christmas, and we all promised to be good, even Mrs Brownley! So fingers crossed we get some lovely presents.
Have a super Christmas.
From everyone in Reception
Last week we went on a journey. We walked to the park in Lostock Hall and it was lots of fun. We played football, we went on the different play equipment and we did some skipping, with the skipping ropes. Our favourite thing on the park was the monkey bars. We had a snack and drink before heading back to school.
Kung Hei Fat Choy! This week we have done lots of activities based around Chinese New Year and we finished our week by having a party. We performed dragon dances, learnt songs and played instruments. We also tried lots of tasty food, such as prawn crackers and spring rolls.
This Half Term we have been practicing our balancing skills. First we balanced on different parts of our bodies and once we had become more confident we then had a go at balancing on different equipment, including the benches and mats.
Over the last couple of weeks we have been learning the story of 'The Three Little Pigs'. Children have produced some fantastic pieces of writing retelling the story and they have also had a go at acting it out.
Merry Christmas!!
We have had an exciting couple of weeks preparing for Christmas. We have learnt all about why we celebrate Christmas and we have made lots of wonderful Christmas crafts. We enjoyed having our Christmas dinner and had lots of fun at our Christmas party this week. We played lots of party games, such as pass the parcel and we even had a special visit from Santa.
We hope everybody has a very happy Christmas and we will see you all in the new year.
