Some of our activities this week will relate to the role of a Fire-fighter.
Mon 23rd - Find an object and describe it. Take it in turns to describe an object and the other person has to find it.
Tues 24th - Listen to or watch a story about a Fire-fighter and make your own Fire-fighter identification card (template in wallet)
Wed 25th - Role-Play being a Fire-fighter, and pretend there is a fire and you need to rescue someone.
Thurs 26th - Using the fire engine sheet in wallet, can you write what the lady says and what the Fire-fighter would say when he arrives
Fri 27th - Dough Disco
Mon 23rd - Put your teddies in a row, can you count how many there are?
Remember to touch each teddy as you count
What else can you find to count?
Tues 24th - Draw your own telephone and write/ copy the numbers onto the buttons. Can you find 9?
Wed 25th - Can you make a pattern with the colours red and yellow?
Thurs 26th - Use a variety of different containers and bottles. Compare and order the containers, start with 2. Use the words full and empty
Fri 27th - Look at a fire-engine and talk about the different shapes you can see
Mon 23rd - Go outside and see if you can jump, run, hop for a whole minute each.

Tues 24th - Make your own Fire-fighter puppet, give it a name and make a story for it.
Wed 25th - Paint a picture on the computer or paper about a Fire-fighter or fire
Thurs 26th - Predict first what will happen if you mix the colours red and yellow together, then using paint or felt-tips or play-dough or food colouring see what happens? Can you mix any other colours together to make a new colour?
Fri 27th - Using a tub or tube with a lid, put something small (ie rice/ pasta) inside and shake it, does it sound like the rain?
Wednesday 18th March
Today we learnt all about the Polish Festival called Smingus-dyngus and enjoyed eating traditional Polish food. We tried pievogi, paczki and strawberry and chocolate flavoured crisps, it was all delicious.
We also learnt about the Nigerian Yam festival and again tried eating their traditional food fried including fried yam, fried plantain and tomato stew.
All the children were fascinated by both festivals and all the food.
A big thank you to one of our pupil's parents for supplying the food and resources so we could celebrate the above festivals
Multi-Cultural Week Home Learning
Lit: Can you recognise your name, Mummy and Daddy. Practise writing your name
Maths: How many squares, circles, triangles, oblongs can you find in different rooms. Which room has the most/ least?
UW: Discuss why different people in your family are special, what are the similarities and differences? Draw a picture of your Mummy and say why she is special to you.
EAD: Using your imagination pretend you are at a tea-party with your teddies/ dolls

Friday 13th March
All the children had an energetic and fun day. We did a bunny hop, trim trail, yoga, dancing, bike races and jumping on spots.
Thursday 5th March
World Book Day
We pretended it was bedtime, listening to bedtime lullabies while having our 'supper' of hot chocolate and a biscuit. All the children loved singing our new song Bananas in Pyjamas. The children have enjoyed reading books to both their teddies and friends.
Wednesday 4th March
On a Sunny Day
Today we went outside and explored our new Literacy Shed, our new Building Site and the musical boat, it was so exciting!!
We can't wait to explore our other new outdoor areas.
Tuesday 25th February
We listened to the story all about Mr Wolf, who wanted help to make his pancakes, he couldn't even remember the ingredients to put into the mixture! We also learnt a song to help make our own pancakes. Our favourite part was trying to toss a pancake, making it going higher and higher.
We can't wait to eat some more this afternoon!
Tuesday 11th February
Our Big House
All the children had lots of ideas about what we could do with the box for our new freezer. The children sponge painted bricks onto the outside of the box and used the rollers to paint the doors. The children decided to put sticks on the top as a roof, a chimney, door handles and curtains. They all took it in turns to sit inside the big house and relax, watching television. We can't wait to make our own house to put in the for the 'Smallworld Village.'
Thursday 6th February
Oliver's Fruit Salad
This week we read a story all about Oliver who didn't like to eat fruit. The children voted for their favourite fruits, which were bananas and strawberries. Together we made a fruit salad just like the one in the story, with lots of different fruits. All the children thought the pineapple was delicious and juicy!
Wednesday 29th January
Today we all came to Pre-School dressed in lots of different colours just like Elmer in the jungle.
We have had lots of fun starting with a parade around our rainbow river, the children enjoyed looking at their reflection in the rainbow river.
All the children became Elmer the elephant when they put on their mask and decorated a cake in Elmer colours for their snack.
Wednesday 22nd January
Chinese New Year
This week we have been celebrating and learning all about Chinese New Year. We wrote Chinese letters on our hats and used Chinese numbers in our Maths work. All our Chinese dragons enjoyed dancing to music. We have all tried to use chopsticks to complete activities and eat our snack. Tomorrow we are going to eat a mini Chinese meal for our snack.
Wednesday 15th January
This week we have been reading all about the different adventures of Elmer. We created our own Elmer using 2 colours to make a pattern. In our small world area the children retold their own story about Elmer. All the children showed good mouse skills when creating a picture using lots of different colours and loved watching it print out!
Thursday 9th January
Happy New Year!
All the children have settled back into Pre-School and we have enjoyed welcoming our new friends. All the children loved the story about the elephant who had lost his underpants, they designed a new pair of pants for the other animals living on the ark. This week our new Chef's Kitchen opened, it has been very busy with lots of budding chefs.

Our Christmas Party
All the children had a lovely time at the party, our singing was so beautiful Santa came to visit us from the North Pole.

Tuesday 17th December
Our Clever Christmas Elves
When we came into Pre-School we couldn't find our elf anywhere! When we went into the Quiet Room we saw the letters c and k (for us to learn) and a word written on our whiteboard 'Cake'. They had left us a note to say we could make cakes for our Christmas Party. Hidden inside the mixing bowl with our ingredients and a pop-up book was our Christmas Elf!
Friday 13th December
On the 9th day of Christmas in Pre-School
Mr and Mrs Elf brought us some real snow, all the way from the North Pole!
We really enjoyed using our senses to describe how it felt and what it looked like. The book they left in the snow today was magic!
Thursday 12 December
On the 8th Day of Christmas in Pre-School
The elves had a very busy night helping Santa in our Grotto, making presents. We were so excited we decided to dress up as elves too, and helped make more presents for Santa to put in his sleigh.
Wednesday 11 December
On the 7th Day of Christmas in Pre-School
This morning we arrived and could see 2 little heads peeping through our window. The elves had sneaked outside last night with a special book from the North Pole. When we read the story we had to do all the different actions for each Christmas character. The elves came back into the warm and watched us make our Christmas stockings.
Tuesday 10th December
On the 6th Day of Christmas in Pre-School
When we came into Pre-School this morning the elves had disappeared from their house on our Christmas tree, we looked for them everywhere!
On our way to watch the Year 2 Nativity play we spotted our elves playing on the photo-copier with our new Spot book.
Monday 9th December
On the 3rd and 5th in Pre-School
Our little elves have been very busy again during the night. One night they slept in the stable and brought us a story all about the First Christmas
Over the weekend the elves were very kind and decorated our Santa's Grotto. They were so tired they fell asleep in the tinsel! After looking at our new wall display where we are all in snow globes, they brought us a story all about Santa and a snow globe too.
Wednesday 4th December
On the 2nd Day of Pre-School Christmas
Today when we arrived, the elf was in the Quiet Room with a pen in his hand. During the night, he had jumped off our Christmas tree and he had found all the letters we are learning and wrote them all over the present he had brought us! When we opened the present it was a story about writing to Santa, this helped us write our own letter. We also made some reindeer dust to help Santa find our houses on Christmas eve.
Tuesday 3rd December
On the first day of Pre-School Christmas!
This morning we saw 2 elves sitting on our Christmas Tree, with cheeky grins. They had even put a present under the tree. When we opened it, it was a story all about being an elf.
Wednesday 27 November
This morning we made our own snack. Sam (our Pre-School helper) had been shopping on his way to Pre-School and bought lots of eggs, too many for his own breakfast!
We practised our 'e e e' sound and made scrambled eggs, they were delicious.
Wednesday 20th November
Paper Plane Race
Today we learnt the letter 'n' and made our own paper planes. In small groups we had races across Pre-School. Jack's plane won the race and made it all the way through the doors too!
Wednesday 13 November
Life Skills Week
It has been a very busy week so far........
On Monday we all learnt how to clean our teeth properly and used our new toothbrush and toothpaste after our snack to clean our teeth.
On Tuesday we made and baked our snack in the morning and a snack in the afternoon.
Today we began learning all about road safety and learnt a song all about Traffic lights. We can't wait to go outside, and follow the rules to cross the road.
Tomorrow we are looking forward to learning about how to look after animals, we may even have a visit from a special furry friend!!
Wednesday 6th November
On Monday we used our last pumpkin to make some soup. We were all really busy scraping out the seeds, chopping the pumpkin into cubes, mixing the stock and blending the soup. It tasted delicious, some children even had 4 cups of soup!
Wednesday 30th October
The children enthusiastically talked to their friends about hobbies and activities they enjoy doing at home.
We can't wait until tomorrow when its Halloween, we've got lots of messy and spooky activities to do in Pre-school.
Wednesday 16 October
We have been looking for signs of Autumn. We put on our wellies and went for an Autumn walk around the school grounds. All the children found lots of different things including conkers, acorns, different coloured leaves, and noticed some trees had no leaves on. At the beginning of the week we read the story about Stickman and we found lots and lots of stickmen lying on the ground!
Wednesday 9th October
It has been another busy week in Pre-School, we all got changed for PE and liked dancing to Sticky Kids. We put our hands into wet pasta and described how it felt and today we did hand and finger prints ready for our Christmas cards, we couldn't help but to begin singing Christmas songs!
Wednesday 2nd October
On Monday all the children were very excited to put on their pumps and go to the 'big school' to do P.E. We walked very sensibly in a long line to the hall. We all moved around the hall like different animals, before singing lots of action songs.
Wednesday 25th September
This week in Pre-school we have been very busy. We have started to learn about shapes and letter sounds. All the children have enjoyed playing outside in the water and dressing up on the pirate boat.
Wednesday 18 September
Today we were very excited because we began to explore and play in some of the new outdoor areas. We put on our waterproofs and wellies to explore the water area, help the dolls and teddies have a picnic and made lots of music on our musical boat.
Wednesday 11th Sept
Our 1st Week in Pre-School
All the children have settled really well, making lots of new friends and enjoyed playing with all the toys both inside and outside. We sat beautifully during registration and at story time. The highlight of our day is helping ourselves to a snack and drink.

A BIG welcome to the Class 2020
Thank you to everyone for welcoming both Mrs Whalley and Miss Worsfold into your homes. We have had a fantastic week playing with your toys and meeting your pets.

Our Seaside Snacks
This week we have visited 'Pre-School' beach and eaten lots of yummy snacks.
All the children were 'Super Sports Stars' today and received a medal, certificate and ice-pop for being amazing.
Well Done Pre-School you were all fantastic!
This week each day we have done a different Science activity. This has included making our own dinosaur fossils, using torches to make shadows, finding objects which float or sink, freezing and sinking.
We have also found dinosaur eggs, which are waiting to hatch , we can't wait to see the baby dinosaurs inside!
We have had lots of fun playing in our beach role play and looking at what we might need to take in our bag to the beach. The children have also been looking at different coins and using them to buy ice-creams in the shop.
We loved sliding into nursery on Friday but we were very sad that it was Miss Blackwell's last day with us.
This week we have started learning all about the beach and fairs. We enjoyed listening to the crashing of the waves and learning names of rides and games at a fair. We have also been posing for our Father's Day cards, to tell all the special men in our life, they are our superheros!
Our Mini-beast Hunt
Today we packed up our snack, took our magnifying glasses and went on an adventure. We walked to the outside classroom and looked everywhere for the mini-beasts but unfortunately they didn't want to come out and play with us! While we ate our snack we saw a wasp and some ants.
This week we have been exploring different animal homes, some animals live in snow, some under the water, some in grassland and finally some in sand.
We are looking forward to singing songs about animal homes too!
Today Bumble the dog came to visit us in Pre-School, he brought his bed, food, his toothbrush and some of his toys. We learnt how to look after dogs and other pets, we need to give them a safe home, food, exercise and love.

St George's Day
The children enjoyed listening to the story all about St George and the dragon. The children made an England flag biscuit and coloured an England flag.
Today we had a surprise visit from a gnome too!

All the children have been busy this week and very excited about the Easter bunny visiting.

Our Afternoon Tea Party
Thank you to all the Kings and Queens who attended are Tea Party today. Everyone enjoyed their cucumber sandwiches, little cup cake and a small glass of Royal fizz (lemonade). After our snack we went to a Royal Ball and danced the waltz, all the Kings and Queens were amazing, doing the moves carefully with their partner. To complete our little tea party the children performed a little song with instruments to their friends.
A big thank you to Mrs Brownley and Miss Berry for accepting our invitation to the Afternoon Tea Party too.
Creative Arts Week - The Queen
We have all been fascinated learning all about the Queen, where she lives, how she travels and how she waves!
In dance we pretended to travel to London and see the Queen.
We can't wait to be Kings and Queens next Tuesday at our Afternoon Tea Party.
Fire, Fire, Fire!!
Unfortunately this morning a pirate came into the Pre-School playground and made a fire to cook his breakfast. It was so windy our pirate boat caught fire.
All the children have been enthusiastic fire-fighters.

Today we arrived at Pre-School very excited because it's 'Pancake Day', we learnt it was also called 'Shrove Tuesday', the children sang a rhyme which helped when we made our pancakes.
All our pancakes tasted delicious, but our favourite pancakes were the ones with chocolate spread!
This term we are looking and learning about 'People Who Help Us'. This week the children walked round and took pictures of people who help us in school.
This week we have welcomed Miss Blackwell into Pre-School to work alongside Mrs Whalley and Miss Worsfold until July.
Today we had lots of fun outside doing balancing activities, including going on our new climbing frame.
Chinese New Year
We have all enjoyed visiting the Chinese Restaurant in Pre-School and using the chop-sticks to eat our food. Everyone enjoyed their Chinese Buffet and were fascinated by the length of the noodles! There were some fantastic dragon dancers too.
Today the children have been celebrating the year of the pig and learning about other Chinese traditions.
Our New Friends
Frosty the snowman has brought his little friend Billy to Pre-School today, the children kindly let him borrow a scarf and a bobble hat.

It's Snowing in Pre-School!
All the children were excited to see the snow at lunchtime play. We managed to make foot-prints, small snowballs and caught snowflakes on our tongues. We're hoping it continues to snow so we can make a snowman.
Mini Tyre Tots
This morning Laura came to Pre-School to teach us some new balancing tricks. We all loved riding on the balance bikes. Next week we're going to ride them on the playground in the 'big school' and steer around obstacles.

Getting Ready for Christmas
All the children have been very excited this week, especially when we decorated our tree and an elf visited!
Our Toy Shop has been very busy this week as the children all wanted to use the 'real' money to buy their favourite toys.
Everyone enthusiastically looked through the toy catalogues before writing a shopping list to take to the Toy Shop.
The cashiers were very busy looking after the money and talking on the telephone too, to order more toys for our shop.
This week has been very exciting and noisy!! All of our toys used batteries or electricity.

Halloween in Pre-School
All the children arrived today looking fantastic, we enjoyed lots of spooky and gooey activities! The children scooped and then carved a pumpkin, talking about how the pumpkin felt.
Lots of spooky characters enjoyed doing jigsaws this morning and we searched for spiders in jelly and counted them
Thankyou Jack for bringing us some little cakes to enjoy at snacktime.
Our Autumn Walk
Today we put on our wellies and went out for an Autumn Walk, we wanted to be just like Percy the Park Keeper looking for lots of signs of Autumn.
We found lots of different things; red, yellow and brown leaves, acorns, twigs, berries and a conker!
We had lots of fun and came back very muddy!!
This week we have been using our senses to explore around Pre-School.
We used our fingers to play in shaving foam.
We used our 'large' ears to listen for sounds.
We used our eyes to look for shapes.
Another busy week in Pre-School, we're really settled and beginning to make new friendships. All the children are eager to learn, explore and create.
This week in Pre-School has been a very busy week, as we began our full days. We have started to learn our letters and shapes too!
On Monday we went on our 1st adventure, to the 'big' school, to do P.E., it was lots of fun.
All the children loved eating the enormous birthday chocolate cake. It was yummy!
Our 1st Week
All the children have had a fantastic start in Pre-School, making lots of new friends and enjoying all the different activities.
World Cup Fever
Below are some of highlights of our 'World Cup' Day in Pre-School. We designed our own England football shirt, made a football and watched England score goals on the computer!
Some of the boys enjoyed singing a famous football song too!!
We went out onto the field to play penalties, we have a few budding future England players.
All the children and teddies had a lovely day yesterday, sharing their books with each other and describing why it was their favourite book.
We all made our own story book based on the story Peace at Last, everyone laughed at Daddy Bear being so grumpy!!
Today we watched a very funny play about Little Red Riding Hood, we even helped the actors create a scary wood. We all cheered when Little Red Riding Hood made the wolf good.

Thank you Alicia for all our lovely treats at snack time, they were delicious. We're sure you will have a lovely time in your new country, we'll miss you!
We have had a very exciting morning, we joined in with the Big School doing 'Dance from the Heart' and were very excited when Mickey and Minnie Mouse arrived. They loved our dancing and gave us an enormous wave!
All the children were fantastic at Sports Day, everyone deserved their medals and certificates.
Well Done Pre-School!
Today we went on an adventure looking for mini-beasts, the children looked in trees, under logs and in the sky. It was very exciting looking but unfortunately the mini-beasts ran away as soon as we found them!
Our Royal wedding Party
We have had a lovely time celebrating this morning, we were all Prince and Princesses for the day.
Preparing for our Royal Wedding Party........
The children have had a busy few days getting ready for our celebration on Thursday.
We have made crowns, written a wedding breakfast menu and coloured our Union Jack bunting.
After lots of discussion we decided jam sandwiches would be what a King or Queen would like to eat at a Royal Party!
Old MacDonald Had a Farm.....
The children have been very busy disguising themselves as an animal on a farm. We were very noisy animals when we pretended to visit Farmer MacDonald's farm and sing him our special song.
Today we learnt the letter l, Sam brought us all a lolly to enjoy at snack time. Luckily the sun came out too!
The children have been very busy looking after all the sick pets visiting Pre-School, they have especially enjoyed putting plasters on all the injuries!
Today we had a visit from a lot of very noisy jungle animals.
Wibble Wobble Jelly
We enjoyed eating our jelly with ice-cream in the beautiful sunshine. It was delicious!!
All the Pre-school children have been fantastic walking/ running so far this week. Everybody has managed a mile every day!
We hope to reach our target of 100 miles tomorrow.
Well done to all the Pre-School children, we all walked a mile this morning!!
Creative Arts Week
It has been a noisy but fun week in Pre-School. All the children loved playing the different instruments and performing songs to their friends.
In Dance we pretended to be creatures from under the sea, our favourite part was when we all became a great big jelly fish.
All the children made their own shaker and we were the Pre-school Orchestra, singing and playing Baa Baa Black Sheep.
World Book Day
It was very exciting to come to Pre-School this morning in our pyjamas and bring our teddies. We've been very busy reading stories to our teddies and writing our own special book.
The teddies can't wait to eat a special bedtime snack!
Yummy Yummy Fruit Salad!
We listened to the story 'Oliver's Fruit Salad' and discussed all the different fruit we see at the shops. Together we decided a variety of fruits we would like to try. We carefully chopped up the fruit and made our own bowl of fruit salad, all the children said it was yummy!
Our Kindness Buddies came to play
Today our friends from year 4 came to visit and play with us in Pre-School. We talked about toys we got for Christmas, our friends and food we like to eat.
We had lots of fun and they showed us how to share and be kind to each other, we hope you come back and visit us again soon.

Today was very exciting Mrs Brownley came and officially opened our Pre-School
We celebrated our new name with a drink of fizz and a piece of celebration cake.
Our Christmas Party
The children all had a fantastic time at our party, playing musical bumps, Christmas corners and pass the parcel.
All our party food was eaten in a flash!!
The highlight of the morning was when our families arrived to listen to our singing. We sang beautifully and Santa flew, especially, from the North Pole to see us singing (he even gave us an early Christmas present!).

Christmas in Nursery
December is always an exciting month in Nursery as we prepare to celebrate Christmas.
We will be very busy; cooking, making Christmas decorations, learning why we celebrate Christmas, helping Santa in his workshop and practising our singing ready for our concert.
The children have all written their letters to Santa and we've posted them to the North Pole, he's going to be very busy getting our presents ready!!

New Technologies Week
It was a very noisy week in Nursery!! All our toys used batteries or electricity to make them work. Our favourites included; a talking phone, laptops, a remote control bug and the Happy Land train which never stopped going round and round the track.
The teddies who visited Nursery proudly looked at themselves on the computer and were amazed when their picture came out of the printer. We hope they will come and visit again later in the year.
The highlight of our week was going to the hall in 'Big School' to play with the Xbox, Scaletrix, dance mats and the walking/ talking robots. Thank you to all year 6 children who made our visit so much fun.
Fireworks in Nursery!!
The Nursery children were very excited about all the fireworks they had seen on Bonfire Night. We were very creative expressing our observations about the colours, shapes and sounds of fireworks.
Freddie loved painting exploding fireworks in the night sky.
Ethan carefully used 2D shapes to make a rocket go to space.
There were lots of glittery rockets flying around Nursery, Isabel's rocket went "swoosh"
We had our own Nursery orchestra making lots of different firework noises, BANG, WHOOSH, WEEEEEEEEEE!!!
Our First Half-term in Nursery
All the children have had a fantastic start in Nursery, making new friends, beginning to learn their letters and playing
with lots of new toys. The children all enjoyed meeting (Teddy) Sam who will be helping us learn in Nursery this year. It has been a busy few weeks which all began when we visited the children at home, they continue to talk about our visit!
Here are just some of our high-lights:
Isabel - " I liked sticking the bits on to make my crazy person."
Jamie - " When Sam brought his socks in a muddle to Nursery I liked sorting the socks into pairs, telling Sam all about the pattern and then hanging them on the washing line with pegs."
Freddie - "I love playing with ALL my friends at Nursery."
Sebatian - " I love doing the hoovering in the Home-corner."
Jimmy - " I like going to the Big School to do P.E."
Alfie M - " I liked going on our autumn walk with my Stickman and finding coloured leaves, conkers and acorns."
Holly - "My favourite day was when Sam had his Birthday, we had a cake with candles and it tasted yummy!"
Our Autumn Walk
This morning we all put on our wellies and went out on our adventure! We were just like Percy the Park Keeper after the storm. Luckily the sun was shining and the wind had disappeared as we enthusiastically set off to the forest (the school's outside classroom).
Alicia commented " this is like going into a jungle."
All the children found lots of different coloured leaves, acorns, pine cones and twigs. Sometimes when we walked on the leaves we heard a crunch!!
Gethin showed us all the coloured leaves on the trees as we walked through the forest.
Jimmy found an enormous twig " look Mrs Whalley it's nearly as big as you! Can we take it back to Nursery to stick leaves onto it?"
Nursery is now the proud owner of our very own 'Enormous Stickman!'
Welcome to Nursery
It has been a busy first few weeks in Nursery,we have met lots of new friends, played both inside and outside Nursery and enjoyed eating our snack. All our faces are proudly displayed in the entrance hall in Nursery.

It was lots of fun going down to the 'big school' for PE, there was lots of room to travel in lots of different ways and we all remembered to stand still when we heard STOP!!

This week we have begun to learn our letters, its very exciting to see what Sam has brought to show us in his bag, this week he had some sweets, a spider and snakes.
