Dear Parents
As you are aware the Government made their announcement last night at 7pm regarding easing the current lockdown measures.
I am delighted to say that we will be welcoming back all the children from Monday 8th March.
I am really looking forward to seeing all the children back in school and I hope this will bring us some normality and continuity that we all need.
As you are aware, we altered our plans for our re-opening in September and these will now be implemented again (with a couple of amendments to timings).

Please note:
On Friday 12th March, to celebrate us being able to re-open (and that I have just turned 21 again) we will be having a pyjama party. Children can come in their PJ’s with suitable footwear. We will be having a day filled with fun activities.
Please be mindful that our staff are working in bubbles and social distancing is still recommended in the community, so in order to keep our school community as safe as possible please continue to follow the Government guidelines.
We will continually evaluate, review and improve our procedures and if anything needs amending we will address this and inform you as soon as possible via our website under ‘Latest News’ or my Blog.
Yours Sincerely
Miss Laura Duce
Good morning everyone!
I do hope everyone had a lovely half-term break and enjoyed some quality family time.
Please can we all keep our fingers crossed for tonight's announcement.
Let's hope Boris gives us a clear plan/date for the return of all children - sooner rather than later.
I will update our plan and communicate this with you as soon as we have all the information and Government guidance.
Best wishes
Miss Duce

Dear Parents
LFD Testing
Following the launch of rapid asymptomatic coronavirus (COVID-19) testing in secondary schools and colleges on 4th January, staff in primary, school-based nurseries and maintained nursery schools are also being offered the opportunity to take part in regular asymptomatic testing.
Therefore, I am writing to inform you that from Wednesday 27th January staff at school will begin taking part in the Government LFD Testing (Lateral Flow Device testing). This test is to determine if a person has coronavirus without displaying symptoms (asymptomatic).
Staff will take the test twice a week. This will allow us to find out if a staff member has coronavirus but displays no symptoms. This will enable us to take action.
If a LFD test shows a positive result then the staff member will need to attend a PCR (polymerase chain reaction) test. Whilst we are waiting for the PCR result, the bubble will have to close.
Once we have information about the staff members’ PCR test we will contact the bubble to either invite you back into school or inform you to isolate for 10 days.
If there is a need to close a bubble, we will inform you as soon as we possibly can, so please ensure we have the correct email address and phone number to contact you. We will aim to contact you on a Monday/Thursday before 8am. Also please ensure that you check the website and have downloaded the app as all information will be put on the ‘Latest News’ section.

Remote Learning
Please let me take this opportunity to thank you for all you are doing with the children at home. I know how difficult home learning can be, but you are all doing a fantastic job.
I am aware of how many parents have the responsibility to home school and work from home at the same time and juggling the two cannot be easy. It’s also difficult because home is not the school environment and some children do not engage in the same way. Obviously, I know how much you do teach your children as they grow, however I am also aware that you are parents and the role of teacher is not a role you ever anticipated you would need to take on under a structured timetable (wearing both hats is very tricky - and a little stressful). The discussions with staff have been great and the work being sent in has been of a very high standard, so thank you for putting so much time and effort in!
Please just do what you can. Some days you may do more than others and that is fine, please remember that family time is extremely important and so is having a break. Teachers are loving seeing what you are doing at home so please stay in touch.
If you need any support, please contact the year group email or see the ‘Supporting our Children and Families’ section on the website.
Thank you for all your support.
Kind regards
Miss Laura Duce

Dear parents
It is with a heavy heart that I have to inform you that school will be closed tomorrow for all children (including Critical worker and vulnerable children). The announcement that has just been made has not allowed time for us to plan thoroughly enough for the return of the identified groups of children.
Please ensure that you complete the online form by tomorrow morning, if you are a critical worker or your child is vulnerable, so we are able to create new bubbles and allocate staffing.
Remote learning will be available for all children.
I will update arrangements via the website and email tomorrow.
Children that are able to attend school will return on Wednesday 6th January.
I am sorry for the late decision however I appreciate your support.
Kindest regards
Miss Duce
Good afternoon everyone
I hope you had a wonderful break and New Year.
As you are aware, in the media, there has been much discussion and speculation with regards to the re-opening of primary schools. Currently we have the capacity to continue to open as usual, however this may change in the coming weeks, for several reasons:
1) There may be another National/Local lockdown
2) Staffing capacity may change due to illness
3) The Government may alter their advice for provision as National figures may increase (as they have in London).
The Local Authority are in constant discussion with Public Health and we receive regular updates, however circumstances change very quickly and I want our school to be as prepared as we possibly can.
During the previous lockdown we provided online learning for all children at home. If the situation arises and we do have to lockdown again, then remote learning will be available for all children via the school year group blogs.
Under the new guidance, Critical Worker children would still be able to access school, along with those identified as vulnerable children and those with an Educational and Health Care Plan. For more information on who is classified as a Critical Worker and which children are identified as Vulnerable, click the link:

Critical workers and vulnerable children who can access schools or educational settings - GOV.UK This guidance has been updated to include information about the return to school and college in January, and includes the addition of those whose work is critical to EU Transition to the list of ... www.gov.uk |
For us to plan ahead for such eventualities, we need to identify the number of children who would require a child care place. This information will be used to plan staffing to see if we are able to meet the needs of our families. Unfortunately, we are unable to guarantee a place for every child at this time.
In order for us to be able to meet the needs of our school community, places should only be requested if there are no other arrangements that can be made within your household or child care support bubble.
Should your child fall into either of the categories and you would require a place, then please complete the form below.

Responses must be submitted by Thursday 7th January at 8:30am
Reminder - if anyone in your household is displaying any coronavirus symptoms, your child must not attend school.
I know these are uncertain times and this is not an ideal situation, however I wanted to ensure that everyone was aware of the plans that school are putting in place should our circumstances change.
The safety of the children and staff is paramount to me and we will continue to follow all guidance provided by the Local Authority and the Government.
If you have any questions then please contact the school office.
Thank you for your ongoing support,
Kind regards
Miss Duce
Dear parents

Dear Parents/ Carers,
As school will be closing after lunch on Friday 18th December for the Christmas holidays, there will be no after school club on that day.
Thanking you for your continuing support.

Club Manager
End of term - Friday 18th December 2020
There have been reports in the media that some schools are closing 1 day earlier than planned on Thursday 17th December and taking an INSET day on Friday 18th December.
I would like to confirm that we will NOT be changing the term dates set and we are finishing on Friday 18th December at lunchtime as planned. Please see times below:
Pre School and Reception 1pm
Year 1, 2, 3, 4 1.10pm
Year 5, 6 1.20pm
The doors will be supervised until all children are collected to allow for collection of siblings from different year groups.
Pupils testing positive during the holidays
The school will remain responsible for contact tracing and reporting of cases for pupils attending the school from 19th- 23rd December.
If any child who attends the school tests positive for Covid 19 during this period please email the school with a copy of the positive test result immediately so that we can contact class bubbles to isolate and inform the authorities if necessary. Please do not ring and leave a message as this will not be picked up.
Email: SBM@lostockhall-pri.lancs.sch.uk
We only need to be informed about pupils testing positive not other household members.
Pupils testing positive after 21st December will not affect their bubble, however we will still have to log cases. Therefore please let us know so that we are aware of the correct return date to school after the holiday.
Many thanks for your cooperation in keeping everyone safe.
Have a wonderful Christmas.
Miss Duce
