Dear Parent/Carer
World Book Day – Thursday 3rd March 2022
This year, we will be celebrating World Book Day by dressing up as our favourite book character on Thursday 3rd March. World Book Day £1 book tokens will also be given out on this day.
World Book Day falls at this time every year and is an international celebration of books and the love of reading.
We hope you are able to support this event and have fun dressing up!
Yours sincerely

On 22nd February, anyone who attends Girlguiding (Rainbows, Brownies or Guides) are invited to wear their Girlguiding uniform in place of their school uniform to celebrate World Thinking Day.
This Friday will be a non-uniform/wear what you like day. The PTFA are asking for a £1 donation to raise funds. Thank you for your support!
Individual and family photos will be taken on Friday 4th February 2022.

Parents should come, with their children, to the hall (enter via the yellow doors). Once in the hall, please write your surname on the whiteboard so that photos can be taken in order.
Brothers and sisters of school age will have their photo taken during the school day. Please inform your eldest child if you would not like one of these family sibling photos taken.
Following this, photos of individual children will be taken.
Photos of whole classes and school groups (eg choir & sports) will be taken on Friday 20th May 2022.

Dear Parents
Following the incident on Friday 26th November, when school was broken into, we have had an overwhelming amount of support. I cannot put into words how grateful we are. People in our school community and the wider community have wanted to show their support through kind words and a suggestion of donations, which really have been appreciated.
The PTFA Bingo was a huge success! We are so lucky to have such an amazing team of parents who plan and create fabulous events for our children and parents to enjoy. Thank you to everyone from the PTFA for your time and efforts on the night. The decision to go ahead with the event was never in question. I will not allow one person to spoil the positive culture of our school. I want the children to know that we have a strong and caring community around us and that together we are strong, resilient and will persevere in any circumstances.
Currently we have a charity ‘Santa Dash’ day booked in to raise money for St Catherine’s Hospice on Wednesday 8th December. We are thrilled to work with St Catherine’s and support this fantastic local charity. We are suggesting a £1 donation.
As I wrote on the Lostock Hall Community page on Facebook, we want to celebrate the community we have around us. We are having our pantomime on 6th January – Beauty and the Beast; which will also be a ‘pyjama party’. On this day we will all come to school in our pyjamas, enjoy the panto and complete activities based around Pantomimes.
At this point we are unsure of what the insurance will cover, however many people have suggested that they would like to donate again. I will send more information about this once we have had information from the insurance company.
For any future money raising events, we are asking that if you would like to make a donation, this can be brought into school or we have set up charity sections on our online payment system which will be clearly named.
Thank you again for your continued support, it truly does mean the world to us.

St Catherine’s Hospice Santa Dash & Christmas Jumper Non-uniform Day - Wednesday 8th December 2021
The children at Lostock Hall Community Primary School will be taking part in a ‘Santa Dash’ on Wednesday 8th December which is also Christmas Jumper and Christmas Dinner Day. Pupils will dash around the KS1 or KS2 playgrounds at different points during the day, with the aim to raise both funds and awareness for the fantastic St Catherine’s Hospice.
We are fortunate to have been able to raise funds for St Catherine’s Hospice in the past and we are hoping to continue this trend during the festive period. In addition to our growing support of St Catherine’s Hospice, our new school sports kit adorns the hospice’s logo. For more information about the wonderful work that they do, please see www.stcatherines.co.uk
On the day, children will be able to attend school in non-uniform and we are encouraging pupils to wear their Christmas jumpers. Pupils will also be provided with a Santa hat for the occasion. It is important that children wear suitable footwear for the ‘dash’ so trainers would be advised.
In order to raise much needed funds for the hospice, we are kindly asking for a charitable donation of your choice on the day. School has funded the cost of Santa hats for the event, so anything donated above this will go towards making this event a fundraising success for St. Catherine’s.
Christmas Dinner - Wednesday 8th December 2021
A Christmas dinner will also be served on Wednesday 8th December 2021 in place of the normal school lunch menu. The kitchen will be serving roast turkey with chipolata sausage or roast Quorn fillet, served with sage and onion stuffing, roast and creamy mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables. The cost for the Christmas lunch is £2.35 per child for KS2 children, but no charge for children in EYFS/KS1 or those who are entitled to free school meals. Pupils will order as normal in the morning.
Christmas Parties
As usual we will be holding Christmas Parties for the children during the school day on the following dates:
All children should come to school in their party outfits on the morning of their party day. Please ensure that clothes are comfortable and warm as the children will be having lessons and playtime as normal in the morning.
The school kitchen will be organising Christmas party food for the children, in place of the normal lunch menu. The cost for the party lunch is £2.35 per child for KS2 children, but no charge for children in EYFS/KS1 or those who are entitled to free school meals. Pupils will order as normal in the morning. The party food will consist of: Sandwich, Tortilla Chips, Salad, Sausage Roll, Jelly, Ice Cream and a Biscuit. Children not opting for the party food may bring a packed lunch to eat at the party.
