WB 22/02/21

Welcome back everyone, we hope you had a lovely half-term break and enjoyed some time outside in the sunshine.

We begin a new Topic this week until Easter, learning all about People Who Help Us, concentrating on a different profession each week. We will also continue learning new letters and number skills

Week Beginning 22nd February:

Some of our activities this week will relate to ‘Pre-School’. Please note activities for Thursday and Friday of this week our combined.

Zoom Room Invite:

In our our Zoom Room on Thursday (25th) at 10 o’clock. Please remember your new teacher name. We will be talking about something you enjoyed doing during the half-term break ie riding my bike, painting, cooking etc

 

Phonics (Mon 22nd)

We will be doing our short Zoom Room phonics revision session, at 11 o’clock, to revise the letters we have already learnt. (We will also include shape/ number revision too)

Daily phonics:     

Before beginning each of your Literacy activity please have a look at all the letters we have been learning so far in Pre-School this year. Can you say the sound and action for each letter?

Extra Phonics activities:

Play a game of eye-spy, can you find something beginning with the letter?

Are you able to say the sound of what a word begins with (please say the word slowly emphasising the initial sound ie

s nake, has a ‘s’ sound

a nt has an ‘a’ sound

t ent has a ‘t’ sound   etc

Literacy      

Mon 22nd – Write and draw about an activity you enjoyed doing during the half-term break ie playing in the garden, a model you made, baking etc (it does not have to be the correct letters or spelling – the children just need the confidence to make marks to represent their ideas)

Tues 23rd – Have a go at writing your name, all by yourself (it doesn’t matter if the letters are not recognisable, it’s gaining confidence).

Write it again in a different colours.

Can you remember some of the different things we do at Pre-School?

  • Put our pictures up and write our name when we arrive
  • Play with our friends
  • Sit down and do the register, remembering to say ‘Good Morning’ listen about the activities we will be doing
  • Complete lots of different activities: building, jigsaws, writing, drawing, colouring, water play, painting, cutting and sticking, role play, reading books, making patterns, counting, dancing, play dough (I’m sure you might remember more)
  • Having our snack
  • Playing outside with balls, bikes, scooters, slide, climbing frame
  • Dinner time

Choose a jigsaw you have, can you manage to complete it all by yourself. Maybe challenge yourself to a jigsaw with more pieces

Wed 24th – Odd One Out

Look at set of 4 objects, 3 have the same criteria ie shape, colour and 1 doesn’t. Which object shouldn’t be there?

   

You could repeat this with real objects ie 2 cars and 1 apple, which is the odd one out?

Topic

Mon 22nd Sing the ‘People who help us’ song. Can you add some actions? Can you think of anyone else who helps us? Add another verse to the song?

Tues 23rd – Can you remember all the different people who help us from the song yesterday? Discuss any different jobs you could do when you are older. Paint or use pencils/ felt-tips/ crayons to make a picture of you doing that job

Wed 24th Construct a Pre-School building using straws, sticks, pipe cleaners and playdough or even marshmallows! What shape are the walls? What shape is the roof?

Alternatively you could make a Pre-School from wooden bricks, duplo, megabloks or even card-board boxes

  

Thurs 25th and Fri 26th

My very own Pre-School (at home)

This week Thursday and Friday are going to be a slightly different format and will incorporate Literacy, Numeracy and Topic together.

Please don’t forget it will still be the Zoom Room at 10 o’clock on Thurs

Create your own little Pre-School for 4 or 5 teddies and you will be the Teacher, you will be called either Miss or Mr then your name

ie Mr Sam or Miss Emma

The activities below can be split over the 2 days, don’t forget your teddies might want to play outside and they may need a snack/ lunch

Literacy Activities

  • Make a register

(see outline below)

Have a go at writing their names and remember to say ‘Good Morning’ when you do the register

  • Read a story to your teddies
  • Ask the teddies to do some writing about their favourite thing in your Pre-School

Maths Activities

  • Tell your teddies all about the different shapes, their name and why each one is special

Circle – it has no corners and it will roll

Square – it has 4 corners and 4 sides which are the same size

Triangle – it has 3 corners and 3 sides which are the same size

Oblong - it has 4 corners and has 2 long sides and 2 short sides

Count to 10 (or more)

Introduce number 1 and show 1 object, repeat for 2 and 3

(Remember to tell the teddies to count the set of objects so they know how many they have)

  • Can any of you teddies write their numbers or draw shapes?
  • Can you put the Teddies in order of size tallest to smallest?
