Friday 8th January

Make a little picture timetable to show the order you do the activities, so you know what is happening next.

                                                                                                                               To the children working at home, well done for all your hard work this week. It has been lovely to see the activities you have completed.

Well done too, to the children attending Pre-School, you have settled back well into our new 'normal' and enjoyed completing the activities.

 

Thursday 7th January

Literacy:

Set up a reading area, make it cosy with blankets and cushions. Take your favourite books and maybe some teddies/ dolls and read them stories using the pictures. Which is your favourite story?

 

Mathematics:

Ask someone in your house to hide one of your toys and describe where you found it, using the words behind, next to, under, on top, in front

Can you hide a toy and then describe where you hid it?

Topic:

Little Red Riding Hood took flowers to her Grandma. Can you paint a picture of some flowers. If you don't have any paints you could use colouring pencils, crayons or felt-tips.

Wednesday 6th January

Literacy:

Draw and write about things you did in the Christmas holidays

Listen carefully to the sound at the beginning of each word, can you identify the initial letter, p for present, d for dinner etc

(it does not have to be the correct letters or spelling - the children just need the confidence to make marks to represent their ideas)

Mathematics:

We have learnt all about the shapes circle, square and triangle. Talk about what each shape looks like, count the sides and the corners, can you remember what is special about the circle?

What did the wolf say?

What did Red Riding Hood say?

Ask an adult to write down on a piece of paper what you said for each character

Topic:

Retell/ act out the story in your own words (you could use pictures from the book as clues) 

You could pretend to be Little Red Riding Hood and put your teddy in the bed to be the wolf or you be the wolf and use your teddy to be Little Red Riding Hood

Literacy 

Using different coloured pens/ pencils/ crayons can you draw lots of circles on a piece of paper. Remember to go anti-clockwise

Do large and small circles.

Mathematics

Count how many steps, jumps, rolls, hops you can do across different rooms in your house.

 

Topic 

Sing-a-long to the song ‘Happy New Year’ and listen carefully to the movements you can do ie hopping, jumping, as you sing-a-long
