Talk about the routine of your day
I get out of bed
I get out of bed
Play with my toys
Do my Pre-School activities etc
Make a little picture timetable to show the order you do the activities, so you know what is happening next.
Listen to the song about Little Red Riding Hood
youtube.com/watch?v=0vPLgSGPsDA&safe=active
Can you sing-a-long and add some actions to the song
To the children working at home, well done for all your hard work this week. It has been lovely to see the activities you have completed.
Well done too, to the children attending Pre-School, you have settled back well into our new 'normal' and enjoyed completing the activities.
Set up a reading area, make it cosy with blankets and cushions. Take your favourite books and maybe some teddies/ dolls and read them stories using the pictures. Which is your favourite story?
Ask someone in your house to hide one of your toys and describe where you found it, using the words behind, next to, under, on top, in front
Can you hide a toy and then describe where you hid it?
Little Red Riding Hood took flowers to her Grandma. Can you paint a picture of some flowers. If you don't have any paints you could use colouring pencils, crayons or felt-tips.
Draw and write about things you did in the Christmas holidays
Listen carefully to the sound at the beginning of each word, can you identify the initial letter, p for present, d for dinner etc
(it does not have to be the correct letters or spelling - the children just need the confidence to make marks to represent their ideas)
We have learnt all about the shapes circle, square and triangle. Talk about what each shape looks like, count the sides and the corners, can you remember what is special about the circle?
Play the shape monster game
https://www.topmarks.co.uk/early-years/shape-monsters
Can you help the monster eat the correct shapes
Either using play dough or plasticine or you could make your own salt dough using the recipe below:
https://www.yummytoddlerfood.com/activities/the-best-salt-dough-ornaments/
You are going to be Little Red Riding Hood, can you make some ‘pretend’ biscuits or cakes to give to Grandma and arrange them nicely on a plate
Listen to the story about Little Red Riding Hood this could be from a book at home if you have the story or follow the link below:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0W86K1jBJFI&safe=active
Talk about the different characters in the story
What did the wolf say?
What did Red Riding Hood say?
Ask an adult to write down on a piece of paper what you said for each character
Retell/ act out the story in your own words (you could use pictures from the book as clues)
You could pretend to be Little Red Riding Hood and put your teddy in the bed to be the wolf or you be the wolf and use your teddy to be Little Red Riding Hood
Phonics
Before Christmas we learnt the letters
s, a, t, p, i, n, d, o, g
To remind yourselves of the letters you could watch Alphablocks on Cbeebies
www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episodes/b01cz0p1/alphablocks
or
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_s-1sxzjPX8
Can you remember their sound and action, when you see it?
Look in books and around the house can you see any of these letters?
You could try to find an object beginning with that letter too
Using different coloured pens/ pencils/ crayons can you draw lots of circles on a piece of paper. Remember to go anti-clockwise
Do large and small circles.
Count how many steps, jumps, rolls, hops you can do across different rooms in your house.
Sing-a-long to the song ‘Happy New Year’ and listen carefully to the movements you can do ie hopping, jumping, as you sing-a-long
