Mental Maths:
Children will be set some mental maths homework. This will be on TT Rockstars. They all have logins in the back of their reading diary. They are set 5 minutes worth each week to complete. This is set every Friday at 3:30pm and needs to be completed by 8pm the following Thursday. Children are to access this independently and type in the answers themselves. This is to help support them with their times tables ready for Year 4 where a government test is in place. If you would like to challenge yourself and get into the habit of what the Year 4 government test looks like and see which tables you are fast at, you can complete a sound check! We can’t wait to hand out lots of tokens to the children who complete this!
Good luck!
Tuck:
Children can bring in money and can buy either toast (20p), a crumpet (30p) or a bacon/sausage roll (70p) on a Friday.
Changes from KS1 to KS2:
- Instead of golden time, children now learn a new subject French!
- We do whole class reading every day.
- Reading diaries are for recording class interventions
- Children change their own home book.
- Children can join the KS2 choir.
- Comfort break - Children will not always have their afternoon comfort break in the juniors due to curriculum timings/ any work that needs completing from our busy day. Children will however be given the chance/encouraged to go to the toilet and have a drink if needed.
- Children can bring in a snack from home for morning break. Please can this be chopped up and be healthy. We recommend these pots are labelled with your child's name.
- Children can bring their own water bottle in school which they have access to all day, but need to ask if they want a drink.
- When children bring in homework in the juniors, we do not mark it, but do share it with the rest of the class.
