Hello everyone - hope you have all enjoyed a well-deserved week off last week. We are seeing on Rising Stars many of you logging on daily to access your reading books, even those children who are attending school. This support with home reading will pay dividends as the children will make leaps and bounds in their progress in reading, so thank you. If you haven't logged in for a while, please do so, so that our children can continue that momentum with their reading until we are able to give out physical reading books at a later stage.
Thank you,
The Reception Team
Weekly Nursery Rhyme – Continue to learn 5 Little Monkeys, following the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0j6AZhZFb7A
Reading – Read one of your books on Rising Stars, either the same book as yesterday or a new book. Don't forget to complete the quiz at the end. Keep going over those key words each day, many of you are able to read most of these now, which is brilliant! ☺
Phonics - Play Giggling Graphemes as a warm up following the link https://www.phonicsplay.co.uk/resources/phase/2/grab-a-giggling-grapheme (remember the login details of Username: jan21 & Password: home), choose ‘+ ur ow oi’ to recap on previous Phase 3 phonemes. Then, follow the link for an introduction to the second of this week’s phonemes (ure) https://youtu.be/p5O9vvk618Q. Print off the jumbled up words below – can children unscramble them to spell the words: pure, cure, manure, sure, secure? They might need reminding about how to spell the ‘ure’ phoneme first, or you could have a still of the Youtube clip up show the ‘ure’ phoneme to support. Also, the ‘s’ phoneme sounding ‘sh’ on ‘sure’ might need some reminders. Could the children cut out some of the letters by themselves?
English - Don't forget to add to your story each day if you are taking up this week's English challenge.
Today, listen to Mrs Parker reading the story from the book to remind yourself of what happened https://youtu.be/28qks5cXodw. Then, have a go at retelling the story using the story map (picture below). Finally, see if you can put the pictures of the story in order. You can either do this by printing out the pictures or, if you would prefer not to print it out, you can re-order them on the powerpoint below instead.
Maths - Watch the video clip Building 9 & 10 Week 2 Session 2 Comparing Numbers Within 10 (https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/early-years/building-9-10-week-2/) to compare amounts of sweets – are they greater than or fewer than?
Task – Compare how many items you can hold compared to someone else, talk about which numbers are greater than/fewer than. https://wrm-13b48.kxcdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/PDF-Building-9-10-Wk-2-Session-2-Comparing-Numbers-Within-10.pdf
