Our Pupil Leaders (Joseph, Piper, Aster and Kayden) all came to the Axia HT meeting to meet our neighbouring MP Katherine Fletcher.
The children asked some fantastic questions!
I am so proud of how they represented our school and the pupils of Axia Learning Alliance.
13.1.22
I have had the most fantastic lunch time. Dom was a winner of the PTFA Christmas raffle. He won lunch with me (hahaha)! I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with Dom, Isaac, Oscar and Willow. Miss Berry also joined us. We all enjoyed a cheeky McD's.
Time to get back to keep fit!
4th January 2022
Good morning everyone & a Happy New Year to you all!
Welcome back on this lovely sunny morning. I do hope you all had a fabulous Christmas and wonderful New Year.
My positives....I had a holiday to NYC and shared Christmas Day with family, the negative...I got Christmas Covid
! Fortunately I have managed to complete my isolation so I was able to come back to work on time.
There have been reports of a significant rise of cases in our local area. Please can we all do our 'bit' to protect one another by doing LFTs regularly and if your child has symptoms, please do not hesitate to keep them off school and take them for a PCR test immediately.
Please report all positive cases to the school office so we are able to inform staff and families as soon as possible.
As before the holiday, any parents/visitors coming into school MUST wear a mask.
Currently we do have several staff and pupils with Covid and we wish them a speedy recovery. Let's hope we can get through this term with as little disruption as possible.
Kind regards
Miss Duce
6.12.21: Fund Raising
Dear Parents Following the incident on Friday 26th November, when school was broken into, we have had an overwhelming amount of support. I cannot put into words how grateful we are. People in our school community and the wider community have wanted to show their support through kind words and a suggestion of donations, which really have been appreciated.
The PTFA Bingo was a huge success! We are so lucky to have such an amazing team of parents who plan and create fabulous events for our children and parents to enjoy. Thank you to everyone from the PTFA for your time and efforts on the night. The decision to go ahead with the event was never in question. I will not allow one person to spoil the positive culture of our school. I want the children to know that we have a strong and caring community around us and that together we are strong, resilient and will persevere in any circumstances.
Currently we have a charity ‘Santa Dash’ day booked in to raise money for St Catherine’s Hospice on Wednesday 8th December. We are thrilled to work with St Catherine’s and support this fantastic local charity. We are suggesting a £1 donation.
As I wrote on the Lostock Hall Community page on Facebook, we want to celebrate the community we have around us. We are having our pantomime on 6th January – Beauty and the Beast; which will also be a ‘pyjama party’. On this day we will all come to school in our pyjamas, enjoy the panto and complete activities based around Pantomimes. At this point we are unsure of what the insurance will cover, however many people have suggested that they would like to donate again. I will send more information about this once we have had information from the insurance company.
For any future money raising events, we are asking that if you would like to make a donation, this can be brought into school or we have set up charity sections on our online payment system which will be clearly named.
Thank you again for your continued support, it truly does mean the world to us.
Miss Laura Duce
22.10.21 - Visitor feedback
I am so proud...
The feedback we have received from visitors this week has been excellent! We have had a variety of companies/visitors in school to deliver workshops to our classes for Life Skills Week. The comments about the fantastic behaviour of our children, how they have asked intelligent questions and participated in an excellent manner. Staff have also been complimented on how supportive they are.
Thank you to Mrs. Smithson for co-ordinating this week - the children have thoroughly enjoyed learning new things.
I hope you all have a wonderful half term break.
Best wishes
Miss Duce
Life skills week 18th Oct - 22nd Oct 2021
At LHCPS we want all the children to gain valuable life skills. We want them to value others, celebrate our differences and also understand what it means to be a good citizen. We want to equip our children to understand the value of money and be able to administer first aid, so this week we are all focusing on Life Skills. Mrs. Smithson has organised a week full of informative workshops and co-ordinated activities to cover this week.
The children will be having visits from the Police, HSBC Finance team, United Utilities and out special guest is Emily Bisby (the author of 'I'm deaf and that's ok'). They will also be having workshops on Mental Health and Well-being, First Aid, cooking, dog safety and pet care.
Please ask your child about what they have been doing this week.
It is great to see them having lots of fun!
18.10.21
Please check the website for regular newsletters about school and also online safety.
This can be found using the 'Parent' tab → section 'newsletters'.
I do hope you find this useful.
Best wishes
Miss Duce
Thank you!
I just wanted to say a huge thank you to all parents who attended Parents' Evening last night. It was lovely to see so many parents in school. The children have been amazing since our return in September and I am extremely proud of all of them.
Your support is really appreciated.
Many thanks,
Miss Duce.
Miss Duce's Writing Competition will begin in October.
Please see below for dates for your year group challenge.

Year 6 Leavers’ Assembly Friday 16th July @ 10am
Dear Year 6 Parents
I cannot believe this academic year is over! I am so proud of how all the children have coped under the circumstances. They have shown resilience and dedication to their education.
As you know, I love to celebrate their achievements, however due to the current restrictions in place by the Government, planning our Leavers’ assembly has proven difficult.
I would love to be able to invite you all into our school to be part of the assembly but unfortunately this will not be possible as we have strict guidance in place for us to follow.
Under these circumstances, I would like to suggest a plan for the assembly.
The assembly could be held outside on Friday 16th July at 10am; weather permitting. It will last approx. 45 mins.
We will hold the celebration either on the field or on the playground. There will be chairs for parents (socially distanced), and we ask that only one adult for each child attends (we ask that no younger siblings attend).
Parents will be signed in on the gate (from the car park) by a member of staff.
Unfortunately due to this being planned for outside, I may have to cancel at short notice, so please be understanding if I have to make this decision. At this moment in time the weather is looking promising, but we all know how unpredictable it can be.
If I need to cancel, the decision will be made on 16th July at 8am. You will need to check the app for notification about this assembly.
However, please be assured that the children will take part in an assembly for their efforts to be acknowledged.
Fingers crossed that the weather is kind to us.
Yours sincerely
Miss Duce

Well done to Mazieanne for donating her hair to the Princess Trust.
Mazieanne had been growing her hair and wanted to do something wonderful by donating to the worthwhile charity. I'm sure you'll agree that her 'new do' looks fabulous!
27.5.21
I cannot believe how quickly this half term has gone! Time flies when you are having fun!
We have had some lovely events over the last couple of weeks, the wear what you like day to raise money for one of our families, the football day and today the Police came to talk to Y6 pupils which was very informative.
Things really do begin to feel like we are getting closer to a bit of normality.
We have decided to change the start and end of day routines for KS2.
Please see document below.
We have also had a virtual tour of our school filmed. You can find this on the link below.
I do hope you all have a wonderful holiday, enjoying some family time.
Best wishes

29.4.21
Just a quick update....I'd just like to celebrate how well the children are doing in school at present. They are a credit to school and a credit to their parents. The children have adapted to new routines and take all this in their stride. They are all very responsible when it comes to staying in their bubbles, regularly washing their hands and hand sanitising.
Hopefully, moving forward once restrictions are relaxed, we will be able to do some collaborative work across year groups in school and have a little more normality. But until then we will continue what we are doing as it is working really well.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
12.3.21
Thank you to all the children for coming to our school PJ party today. Having us all back together is fantastic...I am so happy that we have enjoyed the day. It has been wonderful to hear the children laughing, seeing them dancing and thoroughly enjoying time with their friends - the way it should be!
We have just had a very special surprise birthday assembly for me. What a wonderful birthday treat. There were songs, video messages, poems, artwork and written messages. I had absolutely no idea. I truly am the luckiest Headteacher ever!
Thank you for everyone's birthday wishes.
Have a lovely weekend.
Take care.

Competition Time
Hi everyone,
As you know I love reading and we promote reading every day in school. To show how much we love reading at our school, we are creating a new Reading display in the hall.
For this, I need your help.....
Please can you send me a photograph of you reading your favourite book. However, not just sat reading on a chair, can you be a little more imaginative and read your book somewhere different?
The best photos (one from each class) will be chosen to be displayed and I will announce the winners next week.
Send your photo to head@lostockhall-pri.lancs.sch.uk
Please put your name and class in the subject line so I can easily put the pictures into categories.
Closing date is Monday 8th February at 9am.
I look forward to seeing your pictures as we are missing you lots!
28.1.2021
Good morning
I just wanted to take an opportunity to thank all the parents that have sent in messages of support over the last couple of weeks. It really does mean the world to me and my staff.
To say that I am proud of our team would be an understatement.
As you can appreciate staff are trying exceptionally hard to teach our Critical worker children, provide a variety of differentiated, online tasks that keep the children engaged/motivated, keep communication up to date and also look after their own families. We really appreciate all that parents are doing at home...so thank you!
Remember - do what you can, if your child does not complete all tasks every day, that is ok. Each child is different and will need to approach their learning in a way that works for them. If you need any advice, please contact school.
Best wishes
Miss Duce
Date: 25th January 2021
Dear Parents
LFD Testing
Following the launch of rapid asymptomatic coronavirus (COVID-19) testing in secondary schools and colleges on 4th January, staff in primary, school-based nurseries and maintained nursery schools are also being offered the opportunity to take part in regular asymptomatic testing.
Therefore, I am writing to inform you that from Wednesday 27th January staff at school will begin taking part in the Government LFD Testing (Lateral Flow Device testing). This test is to determine if a person has coronavirus without displaying symptoms (asymptomatic).
Staff will take the test twice a week. This will allow us to find out if a staff member has coronavirus but displays no symptoms. This will enable us to take action.
If a LFD test shows a positive result then the staff member will need to attend a PCR (polymerase chain reaction) test. Whilst we are waiting for the PCR result, the bubble will have to close.
Once we have information about the staff members’ PCR test we will contact the bubble to either invite you back into school or inform you to isolate for 10 days.
If there is a need to close a bubble, we will inform you as soon as we possibly can, so please ensure we have the correct email address and phone number to contact you. We will aim to contact you on a Monday/Thursday before 8am. Also please ensure that you check the website and have downloaded the app as all information will be put on the ‘Latest News’ section.
Please note:
For more information please visit:
Remote Learning
Please let me take this opportunity to thank you for all you are doing with the children at home. I know how difficult home learning can be, but you are all doing a fantastic job.
I am aware of how many parents have the responsibility to home school and work from home at the same time and juggling the two cannot be easy. It’s also difficult because home is not the school environment and some children do not engage in the same way. Obviously, I know how much you do teach your children as they grow, however I am also aware that you are parents and the role of teacher is not a role you ever anticipated you would need to take on under a structured timetable (wearing both hats is very tricky - and a little stressful). The discussions with staff have been great and the work being sent in has been of a very high standard, so thank you for putting so much time and effort in!
Please just do what you can. Some days you may do more than others and that is fine, please remember that family time is extremely important and so is having a break. Teachers are loving seeing what you are doing at home so please stay in touch.
If you need any support, please contact the year group email or see the ‘Supporting our Children and Families’ section on the website.
Thank you for all your support.
Kind regards
Miss Laura Duce
Good morning everyone
I have just had my first Zoom Remote Learner of the Week assembly. Well done to all the winners!
I will also be doing a story time next week.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
Take care,
Miss Duce.
Good morning everyone
Hello to all our remote learners who are working exceptionally hard from home during this lockdown! The teachers have been telling me how much effort you are all putting in and I am very impressed.
From next week I will be introducing a new award for children 'Remote Learner of the Week' (one child will be chosen each week from each class). I will send out a Zoom link so we can have a catch up and celebrate their efforts. I will be in touch with families on Thursday to let them know if their children has been chosen.
I do hope everyone is well and I appreciate all the support and well wishes we have received this week. We are very fortunate to have such a fantastic school community!
Happy weekend to all!
Miss Duce
School update 5.1.2021
Dear Parents
Firstly, thank you for your understanding with regards to our school closure on Tuesday 5th January. Due to the Government only informing us of their plans at 8pm, myself and our Chair of Governors, Joanne Leach, decided that for us to ensure that we were fully prepared, with procedures in place, closure was our only option.
From today all children will be able to access education remotely. Each day there will be tasks and activities for the children to complete from home in line with our school curriculum. These can be found on each year group blog.
We appreciate that many parents will be working from home and supporting home learning can be a strain for families under these circumstances, however we would appreciate your support in assisting the children to complete their home learning work so they do not fall behind their year group expectations/personal targets. The Government recommendation is for primary school children to complete at least 3 hours of learning each day.
Teachers will be making regular contact, however should you need any support then please email the year group email address (which are on the year group blogs). Staff are there to support and guide during this time.
Children will be required to regularly submit their work so teachers are able to evidence their progress. They will also monitor their progress through the online learning platforms. Children have their passwords for these. If you cannot log on then email for their details.
Both the children working remotely and those attending school will be covering the same topics and objectives.
School will re-open tomorrow (6th January) for Critical Worker families and vulnerable children.
Children that are eligible to attend school (either Critical worker or vulnerable) should arrive as usual from 8:45am.
You will have had contact from school to confirm your place.
School day timings:
Pre-School - 8:40am - 3:10pm
Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 - 8:45am - 3:15pm
Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 - 8:45am - 3:20pm
Children attending school should wear their uniform each day. Reading packs will be used and children can continue to bring their snack and water bottle.
School dinners are available from our school kitchen. There will be 3 options per day (one hot and 2 sandwich options).
Once again, please allow me to take this opportunity to thank you all for your support and patience with this matter.
We will continue to follow all Government guidelines and communicate any changes as soon as we receive any updates.
Please take care and stay safe during this lockdown period.
I look forward to re-opening school when the Government allow it.
Kindest regards
Miss Duce
School closure 5th January 2021.
Dear parents
It is with a heavy heart that I have to inform you that school will be closed tomorrow for all children (including Critical worker and vulnerable children). The announcement that has just been made has not allowed time for us to plan thoroughly enough for the return of the identified groups of children.
Please ensure that you complete the online form by tomorrow morning, if you are a critical worker or your child is vulnerable, so we are able to create new bubbles and allocate staffing.
Remote learning will be available for all children.
I will update arrangements via the website and email tomorrow.
Children that are able to attend school will return on Wednesday 6th January.
I am sorry for the late decision however I appreciate your support.
Kindest regards
Miss Duce
8th December 2020
I do hope everyone is keeping well.
I'd just like to thank everyone for all their ongoing support. School has been open under these new restrictions since September and I feel very lucky that we have had only slight disruptions, unlike many other schools.
Thank you to all parents for your understanding when we have had to close bubbles, I know this has not been easy but we have to put all safety measures in place as soon as we can when we have a case. The feedback from staff about the children accessing remote learning has been fantastic!
I am very proud of how the children are dealing with our new routines and I hope we can enjoy the last week and a half with festive celebrations and fun!
Best wishes
Miss Duce
27.11.2020
Dear parents
We have just had a Covid case confirmed this afternoon in 5B.
The relevant staff have been informed and the school office are currently ringing parents of the children who will need to isolate. We will also be sending letters out but we wanted to inform you as soon as we possibly could to ensure we are keeping everyone as safe as possible.
The return date for 5B will be on Thursday 10th December.
Remote learning will be posted on the Year 5 Blog each day.
Thank you for your support.
Miss Duce
26.11.2020
Good morning everyone!
I hope you and your families are well.
We have had the green light for the children to be able to sing again as part of our curriculum (with H&S measures considered). Currently Year 2 are practicing for their performance - it is an absolute joy to hear their voices....it really is the simple things that can brighten a day.
I hope everyone has a wonderful day!
2.11.2020 - Some wonderful news.
During the half-term holiday Tilly donated her hair to the Little Princess Trust. Her beautiful hair will be used to make wigs for children and young people who have sadly lost their own hair due to batting cancer.
Tilly has also used this opportunity to raise money for St Catherine's Hospice in loving memory of her Grandad. To date she has raised a whopping £2135!
Well done Tilly, you truly are an inspiration.
October 23rd 2020
Firstly, thank you for your support this term. We have had our challenges to face under these circumstances, however the children have been utterly amazing! I am so proud of each and every one of them. Their ability to adjust and adapt is truly beyond expectations.
Thank you to all our staff and Governors for their support and also thanks to the PTFA who are still raising money despite the restrictions!
We usually end the term with our Harvest Celebration and this year is no different...Year 5 have produced an excellent assembly for you to watch - see the video below.
Well done to all the Year 5 children for their hard work!
Finally; just to say, have a wonderful half term break, stay safe and enjoy spending time with loved ones.
Best wishes
Miss Duce
We hope you enjoy our Year 5 online Harvest Assembly!
Dear Parents
Further from the advice received from Public Health England on Monday 28th September I must update you with new advice received today. Pupils from Year 6 should now return on Thursday 8th October as this will be 14 days from the last point of contact and not from the date of incubation as previously advised.
I can only apologise for this, as the initial advice from PHE was clearly incorrect. I thank parents for their support in this challenging time and look forward to welcoming the children and staff back to school.
Yours sincerely
Miss Laura Duce
School update 29.9.2020
Yesterday afternoon we had news of a positive case in one of our Y6 bubbles. I would like to take this opportunity to reassure parents that I have followed all guidance from Public Health. Staff and children have been identified and are now isolating.
We have completed a deep clean of school areas; following our robust risk assessment.
I would like to thank all parents and children affected for your understanding in this matter. The children will now access home learning until their return to school.
Again, thank you for your support.
Miss Duce
Thursday 3rd September 2020
We have decided to tweak the plan for Key Stage 2 leaving the building at the end of the day. The new plan is:
Year 3 at 3:10pm from the yellow doors.
Year 4 at 3:10pm from the gate at the back of the car park.
Year 5 at 3:20pm from the yellow doors.
Year 6 at 3:20pm from the gate at the back of the car park.
Please note that parents should not be parking in the school car park and the main gate will be closed to ensure the safety of our children.
Many thanks.
Wednesday 2nd September 2020
To say that I am proud would be an understatement...the children at our school are truly fantastic. They are all coping so well and are working their socks off!
Well done everyone!
Tuesday 1st September 2020
Welcome back everyone!
I do hope you have all had a relaxing summer and everyone is in good health.
It has been absolutely wonderful to see all the children this morning.
They have all come into school so well (looking very smart), have settled and working hard with their new teachers.
We have our new routines in place, however should we need to tweak these in any way, I will be in touch via our app.
Let's hope we are now able to regain a little bit of normality...
Best wishes

I can hardly believe that tomorrow is our last day in school. This year has not gone as planned due to the circumstances, but with the hard work from our fantastic children, staff and Governors we have made it work to the best of our ability. I do hope September brings us some normality.
Thank you to everyone for your support and understanding. I hope everyone has an amazing summer and I look forward to seeing everyone back in September.

Year 6 Leavers Party
Thank you to all the children for coming to school to make yesterday afternoon so special. We had awards, poetry, pizzas and performances.
All the children received a voucher and leavers hoodie as a present from school.
We were sad to say 'goodbye' to Mr Best who has worked at our school for such a long time. We wish him all the very best for his next chapter and we hope he thoroughly enjoys his retirement.
14.7.2020
It was wonderful to see the children from Year 2 and Year 4 today.

Thank you to all the children who attended today's session it was so lovely to see you all and I hope you enjoyed seeing all your friends.
It was lovely to give out my Headteacher Award and also congratulations to our new Head Girl, Head Boy, Deputy Head Girl and Deputy Head Boy.
Come and Play sessions for Year 2, 3, 4.
I am sorry to say that today's play sessions are going to have to be cancelled due to the weather. I was hoping it was going to change, however it is getting worse and the forecast is not looking good.
I have back up dates/times below:
Year 2 - 14th July 10-11am
Year 3 - 9th July 1:30-2:30pm
Year 4 - 14th July 10-11am
Sorry for the short notice, I hope to see you all next week.
Finger crossed that Year 5's session can go ahead tomorrow.
Come and play session - 7th July 2020
Looking at the weather forecast we may need to rearrange these sessions as it is predicting rain.
I will make a decision tomorrow morning so please keep checking my blog for updates.
Invite for all Year 2, 3, 4 & 5 children
As you are all aware the end of term is getting closer and we want to make sure that all children finish their school year with positive feelings and also have time to say 'goodbye' to their class teacher before beginning the new academic year.
We are proposing 'Come and play' sessions next week (weather permitting). We do have some back up dates, should these not be able to go ahead.
This will be a chance for the children to come and play outdoors together. Please note that we will encourage social distancing, however we cannot guarantee it.
I do hope you feel that this will allow the children the 'closure' to their current year group and I hope to see as many children attend as possible.
Year 2 - 7th July, 10-11am on KS1 playground (enter via main gate)
Year 3 - 7th July, 1:30-2:30pm on KS2 playground (enter via gate on car park)
Year 4 - 7th July, 10-11am on KS2 playground (enter via gate on car park)
Year 5 - 8th July, 10-11am on KS2 playground (enter via gate on car park)
Should these session need to be cancelled due to weather I will post the new dates/times on the blog.
Children should wear their own clothes and bring a bottle of water.
Thank you for your continued support.

22.6.2020
This week has been fantastic - thank you to everyone (children, staff and parents)!
The children in school have enjoyed their new routines and the staff have enjoyed a little bit of 'normality'!
I would also like to thank all the children that are learning at home. I know how hard you are working as the teachers have been telling me about your achievements they can see on the learning platforms. Times tables Rockstars seems to still be a hit and the reading programmes are being accessed regularly which is wonderful to see. Keep up all that hard work.
New classes for September will be on my blog from Monday so everyone will know who they are having as their teacher next year. Meet the Teacher presentations will go online soon and their will be some tasks for everyone to complete so they can tell their new teacher all about themselves.
I do hope you all have a fantastic weekend!
Hopefully see you all soon.
UPDATE 26.6.2020
Good morning everyone
Due to the success of children entering the building and being familiar with the new routines we have decided that from Monday 29th June we will have new start times for the groups. All groups will enter school at 8:50am through the allocated doors. Please can I remind parents that the children need to be at school on time so then the sessions can start and are not disrupted. The end of the day timings for collection will stay the same.
We will review this change over the coming days and may revert back to our initial plan if we feel the need to do so.
Also, we have changed the date of the last day of term. Our holiday pattern states the 20th July, however we are now closing school on 17th July.
We will have our holiday club running through the 6 week holidays each day from 8:30am until 4:30pm. This is at a daily fee of £18. To book a place for your child, please contact Mrs Lang on 07933772647.
Many thanks for your continued support.
Miss Duce.
22.6.2020
Good morning everyone,
Just to reassure all parents, the children have come into school remarkably this morning. I am very proud of them!
They are all settled in their bubbles and have started their learning. They will stay within these bubbles each day so they know which adults they will be working with.
Thank you for all your support,
Best wishes
Miss Duce.
19.6.2020
Under the Government guidance we are hoping to taking learning outside as much as possible next week. Looking at the weather forecast it is showing some excellent weather. Please can we ensure that all children returning to school:
1) bring a coat
2) have sun lotion applied
3) bring a cap/hat
4) have their own water bottle
Thank you in advance.
19.6.2020
To all Key Worker parents,
I would just like to acknowledge how well the children who have been attending school over the past 13 weeks have adapted to the new routines.
Under these ever changing times the children have been truly fantastic! They have come to school and accessed activities throughout the day as if this were the norm. Their behaviour and ability to adapt has been outstanding.
Thank you for your support during this time.
Best wishes
Miss Duce
18.6.2020
Thank you to all the parents that have completed the e-form to book their child's place for the partial re-opening.
I look forward to seeing you all on Monday!
Best wishes

School Re-opening on 22.6.2020 for selected groups.
Answers to FAQ:
1) Pupils should wear fresh clothing each day. They are not expected to wear school uniform.
2) School dinners will be available (a choice of sandwiches), however if parents are able to provide a packed lunch then please do so.
3) Where possible we will aim to adhere to social distancing, however the Government have identified that children are unable to keep to social distancing measures. Therefore, any parents sending their child back to school MUST be aware of this. We cannot guarantee social distancing levels.
4) Please return all school resources (e.g. reading books).
5) Drop off and pick up timings:
Pre-School will enter and exit through their usual door. Session times are: morning - 8:40am-11:40am and afternoon - 12:10pm-3:10pm.

Parents of Year 2, 3, 4 and 5.
At this stage we have had no guidance about the return of these year groups.
Once I have any information I will be in touch.
Sorry I cannot provide any further information at this stage however, be assured that I am constantly checking for Government information/updates.

15th June 2020 - Plans for re-opening
Date: 15.6.2020
Dear Parents
Following the review and advice from LCC we will be re-opening our doors to the selected year groups on Monday 22nd June.
As in my previous letter to parents, planned arrangements will be the same for Pre-School, Reception, Year 1, Year 6 and Key Worker children.
Following the guidance provided to school and taking into account parent’s views, the points below are applicable to our setting:
Change to routine:
The end of the day will have staggered timings for collection:
Please note that:
For us to gather class numbers, please could you complete the short e-form on our website using the link below:
I look forward to seeing you on Monday 22nd June, should you wish for your child/ren to attend.
Yours sincerely
Miss Laura Duce (was Brownley)
Headteacher
12.6.2020
Hopefully from the review on Monday 15th June, I will have an update about the re-opening school (should Lancashire feel it is safe to do so).
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
Classes for next year.
On 29th June I will be putting information on my blog about next year's classes. This will give you chance to discuss 'moving up' with your child/children.
Unfortunately due to the situation, transition will have to be different this year as we are unable to carry out our 'Sampler Day'. Last year we did 'Meet the Teacher' sessions after school which provided information for parents on year group expectations etc. This year we will upload this on our website by 6th July.
More information about transition will follow once we have a clearer picture about re-opening.
Thank you for your continued support.
Update: 8.6.2020
We have had an update from LCC and the Director of Public Health this morning, advising schools to continue our delay in re-opening.
This advice will be reviewed again next Monday (15th June), and if it changes, schools will be encourage to take the decision to reopen to more pupils from 22nd June if deemed safe to do so.
Please keep checking my Blog for updates.
Best wishes.
3.6.2020 Update
We have been informed that Dr Sakthi Karunanithi (our Director of Public Health) and LCC will review the current situation regarding re-opening schools across Lancashire to more pupils on a weekly basis. The review will take place on 8th June and schools will be notified of plans after this date.
Currently we will continue to work as we have over the last 11 weeks.
Best wishes to everyone.
28.5.2020 Update
Dear Parents
As many of you have probably already seen the letter that was released yesterday by LCC on social media, I thought I would share this on the Blog with everyone to ensure we all had the same information.
Please see letter below.
The decision has been made by Lancashire for schools not to re-open on the 1st June and as we are a Lancashire school, I will be following their guidance on this.
However, for us this is very unclear as we were planning to re-open on the 8th June. Once they provide clarity I will inform you of their plan and in turn, how this will effect our re-opening. Unfortunately the plans do change with a notification period of approximately 2 days - so please watch this space!
The safety of our children and staff is my priority and until I am told that we should re-open we will continue to work as we have for the past 10 weeks.
Child care provision will continue for Key Workers and Vulnerable children. Our staff will begin to upload work from the 8th June for home learning.
Should your circumstances have changed, please contact school.
I appreciate that this is an extremely frustrating time for us all and as soon as we are able to re-open safely I will do so.
I do hope you enjoy the sunshine this week.
Best wishes
Mrs Brownley.
27.5.2020
Good morning,
I just wanted to make you aware that the PM is due to confirm plans for the re-opening of Primary Schools over the coming days. Please keep checking my Blog for all updates.
"As part of Step 2, we set out plans for a phased reopening of schools.
Because the education of our children is crucial for their welfare, their health, for their long term future and for social justice
And so in line with the approach being taken by other countries, we want to start getting our children back in the classroom in a way that is manageable and as safe as possible.
So we said this would begin with early years settings and reception, Year 1 and Year 6 in primary schools.
Today I can announce that it is our intention to go ahead with that as planned on June 1st, a week on Monday."
Boris Johnson, 24.5.2020 (Press Conference Statement)
Should this be confirmed, we will go ahead with our plans to open on the 8th June. Notification will be sent via the app.
Best wishes,
Mrs Brownley.
22.5.2020
I have received some questions from parents and I thought I'd share the answers on my blog as I am sure many people have the same thoughts/questions about their children returning to school.
Please note: this is subject to the Government requesting us to open in the coming weeks. Confirmation of re-opening will be sent out once I have further information.
How have we split the classes into groups?
Class Teachers have split their class into 2 group based on friendships and how the children work best together.
Will there be set times for children to use the toilets?
No, children can access the designated facilities when needed. This will be monitored by a member of staff.
Which group will my child be in?
Please see below the staff teams for each of the year groups:

Groups will be identified on return to school.
Groups are subject to change dependent on numbers.
Which lessons will be taught?
Initially the focus of our curriculum will be PSHE, settling the children back into a routine and then we will begin structured lessons covering each year groups curriculum key skills.
If I don't send my child to school then change my mind, can I then ask school for a place?
Whether or not you send your child to school is a parental decision. One that you must think about and be happy with. If you change your mind that is absolutely fine. Just let school know of your plans so we can accommodate.
How will classrooms be set out?
We will be removing furniture to limit the opportunity of children sitting directly next to each other. Floor spots will be used in the EYFS to encourage distancing where possible.

Update re: proposal for re-opening school on 8th June for specific year groups will be posted on my blog on Wednesday 20th May.
Thank you for your support at this time.
12.5.2020
Dear Parents,
Since the Government update I am working closely with school leaders and our staff to ensure that we plan for the suggested re-opening. For Headteachers, that process involves listening to parents views about this suggestion. In the first instance I would like feedback from parents that the re-opening will directly impact upon (those parents with children in the selected year groups; Pre-School, Reception, Year 1 and Year 6).
Once I have more details about a full school return, I will be requesting views from all parents.
Please be reassured that the safety of children and staff is my main priority and I am working within all Government guidelines.
Please also note that the re-opening of schools is still only a suggestion and the Government are continually reviewing this.
Any future updates will be shared on my blog.
Best wishes
Mrs Brownley.
11.5.2020
Good morning all, as I am sure you are aware our PM gave his COVID-19 update speech and included information that schools may return on 1st June for the following year groups: Reception, Year 1 and Year 6.
At present we do not have any more details. Once I have more information and there is a confirmed date and plan for schools to return I will inform you as soon as possible.
All updates will be on my Blog.
Thank you for your continued support,
Mrs Brownley.

Today the children in school have created colourful scrub bags for NHS workers. A big thank you to Mrs Brogden for her fabulous sewing skills.

5.5.2020 Update
School will be closed on Friday 8th May (Bank Holiday). Work will not be set for the children on this day. Fingers crossed we can enjoy some sunshine.
I look forward to the update from our PM on Sunday (10th). Hopefully we will have some reassuring news.
Please keep checking my blog for updates.

4.5.2020
Good afternoon everyone,
Please could you let the children know how proud I am of them. They have been working so hard on their home learning activities. I have received some lovely videos and emails - so thank you very much!
If you have still not accessed the online learning then please could you have a look at the Reading and Maths tasks that staff have planned and set that are on the Year Group Blogs.
If you need support, please call school/text our mobile.
Best wishes,
Mrs Brownley
6th April 2020
Good morning everyone, I do hope everyone is in good health.
Staff have uploaded work to the blogs - however there is no expectation for the children to complete this work over the Easter break. It has purely been added to assist families to keep in a routine - should they want to. Completing the work is a choice for the next 2 weeks.
I hope we all get to enjoy a bit of sunshine this week - even if it is just from our gardens.
Best wishes
Mrs Brownley
3rd April 2020.

March 24th 2020
I hope everyone is well and following the latest Government advice.
Mr Johnson has said you will only be able to leave your house for one of four reasons:
NOTICE: Free School Meal deliveries have arrived. I have contacted families who can access this provision. I will update on the school app when next weeks delivery arrives for families to collect.
March 23rd 2020.
Good afternoon all
Firstly, I do hope everyone is well and you all have the supplies you need whilst we are all taking steps to self-isolate where possible.
Secondly, to all the families who have been able to make alternative arrangements for child care - thank you.
To all the front-line staff and key workers, thank you for all that you are doing. Your children have settled well today and are enjoying a range of activities. Thank you to my staff who have come to work to enable this to happen.
If you are a key worker, please ensure school knows when your child/children will be accessing their child care place so provision can be planned.
If you have any questions, please email sbm@lostockhall-pri.lancs.sch.uk
Best wishes, Mrs Brownley.
Red Rose Regional Grade 3 Champion.
First overall, 2nd floor, 2nd bars, 2nd range and conditioning, 3rd beam and 4th vault.
What a result!
WELL DONE Y5!
Thank you to all the parents who came to watch our Y5 assembly all about Online Safety. We had special guests from the police - Tony our PCSO and the Crime and Police Commissioner for Lancashire. The children read out their poetry, rapped, did 2 drama performances and we even had a quiz. They delivered their message in a fun and interactive way for the whole school. I was extremely proud of how confident they all were and impressed on how hard they had worked. Remember: Stay SMART!
Isaac Cunningham approached me to ask if we could do a fundraising day to raise money to support the Muscular Distrophy charity. All the children came to school wearing bright colours and donated money to support Isaac.
Isaac completed an indoor sky dive and managed to raise a whopping £638.30. Well done Isaac!
Year 4 Poetry performance
WOW! I was so impressed by how Y4 led our assembly today. The poetry that had been written and recited was truly fantastic. If you managed to get to watch, I'm sure you'll agree that they were absolutely brilliant! Well done to all the children.

She will be competing in the regional finals in March for the North West championship.
More good news!!!
Alexis Stewart competed at 'Beside the Seaside' Gymnastics competition in Bridlington on the 17th November. She came 2nd overall in the under 8's category. Well done Alexis!
Linking with the New Day Church.
We have just had a wonderful whole school assembly delivered by Mrs Redman about our local church and the work it does to provide families with food that they need.
We would like to strengthen our links with the local community and have decided to get involved with and support our local food bank. We now have a box in our entrance for any donations for families in our local area that need a 'helping hand'. All food donations are gratefully received.
There are several events coming up at New Day Church that you are invited to:
30th November - Family Christmas Crafts
15th December - Community Christmas Choir service (our school Choir will be performing)
EVERYONE IS WELCOME!
PTFA events at Lostock Hall Community Primary School.
Thank you to our PTFA for all their time and hard work! The funds raised from the Bake Off and the Christmas Fair will make a fantastic impact to the children of our school.

CONGRATULATIONS BRODY!
Brody submitted his Lego creation into their competition to become a member of the Junior Creative Board. He was successful in securing a place working with 11 other children to feedback and give their suggestions to Lego. This is a wonderful achievement and I cannot wait to hear all about his first official meeting.
Goodbye and good luck to Miss Carter who is leaving our school today. She has secured a new job at Fulwood Academy.
We wish her all the luck in the world and we hope she enjoys every minute of this new chapter in her career.
PGL - What a day!
I was fortunate enough to visit our Y6 children on Tuesday at Boreatton Park. The weather was glorious.
The children are challenging themselves, working in teams and just being their brilliant selves!
I saw lots of the group activities, such as; trapeze, giant swing, tunneling, sensory trail, archery and fencing. I was very proud of all the children as they took on these challenges, so obviously I had to have a go too...
WELCOME BACK!
We have our new mission statement and 5 new school rules:
‘At Lostock Hall Community Primary School we endeavour to provide our children with life skills that they will use to shape their future. We will nurture talents and provide secure foundations for learning. Our inclusive curriculum has a clear purpose to enable a progressive learning journey of knowledge, skills and creativity.'
REMINDERS:
Punctuality – please ensure your child/ren are on the school playground for no later than 8:50am to ensure a prompt start to lessons.
Uniform – please ensure your child/ren have the correct uniform and PE Kit. Trainers are not part of our uniform and earrings should be covered.

We will miss you, but we all wish you the very best for your retirement.
Enjoy relaxing, going for walks, taking beautiful photographs and we hope your new puppy 'Cassey' brings you lots of joy! x
Headteacher Pupil Interviews.
I have had a wonderful morning talking to children from each year group asking them their views about our school. It is such a pleasure to hear such positive comments about lessons and our school environment. I also received some great ideas about improvements we could make in the future. Thank you to all the children involved!
Yesterday I was very fortunate to receive an invitation to Pre-School's Royal Tea Party.
The party began at 10:30am today. Myself and Miss Berry have enjoyed cucumber sandwiches, cake and a glass of fizz (lemonade)! We also watched the children perform the Waltz. It was wonderful to see all the children dressed so smartly for this Royal occasion.
#PROUD!
This morning I have been walking around our school. To say that I am proud is an understatement...the children are working so hard and the behaviour is fabulous! I hope everyone has a wonderful week.
Well done Year 3!!!
An amazing night at the Guild Hall, taking part in the WRIST Celebration of Friendship along with 16 other schools who we work closely with. It was a fabulous evening. Thank you to all the family members and staff for supporting this event. I was exceptionally proud!
Well done to Mya and Alexis for competing in a Gymnastic competition in the Isle of Man.
They competed in a variety of events.
Mya came 2nd in floor, 2nd in vault and 1st overall. Alexis came 4th on vault and 7th overall...what an achievement for both girls (in what was a very tough competition).
Keep up all the hard work girls!

Thank you to Mr Twinn for all his hard work over the 9 years he has been LHCPS's Site Supervisor. There has never been a job too big or too small. Our school is a wonderful environment for staff, children and visitors, which is a credit to all the hard work Mr Twinn has put in.
We all wish him well as he embarks on his retirement!
We have just waved our Year 6 children off to PGL for their activity week.
I am sure they will have a fantastic time!
Also, welcome to our Pre-School children who started their educational journey with us today!
WELCOME BACK EVERYONE!
Wow! I cannot believe our first week is over.
Welcome to all our new Reception children and their families. They have settled really well and have enjoyed exploring their new classroom.
I hope you'll agree with me that Year 6 children look very smart in our new Y6 colour...setting an excellent example to all the younger children.
Lots of exciting things are planned for this term...I will update regularly via my blog and newsletters.
Please always check for important dates on our calendar.
COMING SOON - downloadable parent app to improve our communication!
NSPCC Parent workshop 4.5.18
Thank you to Chris Dunn from the NSPCC that came to share his online safety knowledge with parents today.
The workshop was very informative and provided us with some top tips.
1. Google 'Net-aware' for information about apps - this gives age restrictions and risk levels.
2. Google 'Share aware' - this provides videos for us to share with children to educate about online risks.
3. Check privacy settings on devices AND apps that are downloaded.
4. How to stay safe = Explore - Talk - Manage - Agree
Thank you to the parents who attended today.
Sport Relief 1000 mile challenge 23.3.18.
Well done to EVERYONE at LHCPS this week. We gave ourselves a target to collectively run 1000 miles this week in order to raise money for Sport Relief. We beat our target by reaching 1531 miles!!! WOW!
Hope you all have a wonderful Easter.
