Task 1. Read the selection of persuasive articles in Text 19. A Changing World – think about the different persuasive techniques that the writers have used - use the features list to help you find some of these and note them down.

Today we are thinking about the discussion topic -Should Mobile Phones be allowed in schools?
Task 1. Watch the powerpoint which outlines the two different sides of the argument.
Task 2. Think about the different sides of the discussion and use the chart to note down points for each side of the debate.
Task 3. Then write a persuasive speech for one side of the debate. Recap guidance from persuasive writing powerpoint and the speech writing frame from Tuesday. Remember to organise your points into clear sections and use strong words and phrases (e.g. I strongly believe…….)

Today we are focusing on adverbs and using fronted adverbials in our writing
Task 1. Using the word cards with different adverbs and adverbial phrases, sort them into the following groups,
Frequency (how often) , time (when), degree (how intense), manner (how), place (where). Now try to add words or phrases of your own to each group.
Task 2. Look back at your writing from the shared write yesterday and try to build sentences by adding adverbial phrases - try and use some fronted adverbials to create sentences linked to the storm. The examples below will help you.

This week we are looking at how living things are classified into broad groups according to common observable characteristics and based on similarities and differences.
