Weekly Nursery Rhyme - See if you can sing 5 Little Monkeys all by yourself. No need to send us a recording (though you can if you wish ☺), just make sure you are confident at singing it.
Reading - Either read one of your books on Rising Stars, or, if you fancy a change, follow the link to enter the Oxford Owl website: https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/for-home/find-a-book/library-page/ In order to access their ebooks, you will need to register an account (this is free), then when you have registered, follow the links for the ebook library, and filter the results by 'Level' - try either Book Band 1 Pink or Book Band 2 Red. Please note, not all of these books are phonetically decodable (some words can't be sounded out), so there may be one or two trickier words to read.
Phonics - Recap on all key words so far. Can children read these words on sight? Test children on the spelling of this week’s key words said & have. Can they spell them independently?
Then, try one of the two activities below (both are outdoor activities):
English - Complete your book today if you are taking part in this week's English challenge. You can either upload pictures of each page onto Tapestry, or drop it off in the box at school, in the foyer.
Today, follow the links to listen to other similar books by Eric Carle, the author of The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Talk about which you prefer and why. Could you retell one of the stories to an adult, remembering what happened?
Maths - Watch the video clip Building 9 & 10 Week 2 Session 5 Making 10 https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/early-years/building-9-10-week-2/) to add amounts to make 10.
Topic - Screen free Friday – we are going to try and ensure our Friday afternoon activities are ones away from the screen and a bit of a ‘wind down’ before our weekend. So, for today, follow the recipe (or adapt if you wish) to make a healthy fruit smoothie that the Hungry Caterpillar might like, and you too! How did it taste? ☺ If you don’t have a blender to make one, perhaps you could join in making a healthy sandwich for him instead. Finally, we would like you to choose your favourite board game and play it with someone in your household, as a fun, end of week activity to finish off with. Have a lovely weekend.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
