Life Skills Week
This Week is our Life Skills Week in School. Our home learning foundation activities this week will therefore be focused on developing our life skills in different ways.
Monday 18th October - Foundation - Mindfulness and Emotional Health.
Mindfulness means paying full attention to something and really noticing what you're doing. Being mindful could help you to pay attention better, stay calm and even feel happier and enjoy things more.
Activity - please choose at least two of the following mindfulness challenges to try:
Listen carefully with your eyes closed to any sounds you can hear. After one minute, open your eyes and write down everything you heard.
Ring a bell or make a lasting noise with another instrument or method. Listen very carefully to the fading sound until you are sure you can no longer hear it.
Listen carefully to a piece of music and draw a line on a piece of paper which matches the feeling created by the music.
Lie comfortably on your back on the floor. Move your attention around your body by tensing and clenching your muscles and then relaxing them. Hunch your shoulders, then let them go. Make your hands into fists then tighten the muscles in your arms before relaxing them. Continue to move around your body repeating this process.
Written Activity - Write a list of 10 things you are thankful for.
Tuesday, 19th October - Life Skills - Planning a Budget.
Today you will be planning a fun pizza night. You will need to create a budget to purchase the ingredients to make the pizzas. There will be 4 people eating the pizza (2 adults & 2 children). Each person has their own individual pizza. You have £40 to spend. You do not have to spend all of the budget, as long as you meet the pizza night requirements. Please see information and worksheets below to help you with your task.
Wednesday, 20th October - Life Skills
Please carefully read the attached presentation all about the importance of embracing our differences and valuing each other.
Activity - complete the worksheet below about how we are all special and unique.
Thursday 21st October 21 - Computing - Internet Online Safety - Cyberbullying
Cyberbullying is often the "hidden" form of bullying.
"Cyberbullying is bullying online and any form of anti-social behaviour over the internet or via a mobile device. It is an attack or abuse, using technology, which is intended to cause another person harm, distress or personal loss." (from Cyberbullying and online Harassment online advice service)
Your task today is as follows:
1) Please read the information display about what to do if you come across any type of cyberbullying.
2) Create a safety advice leaflet/poster telling people what cyberbullying is, include an example and how to deal with it.
You could create your poster by hand or electronically using for example Purple Mash.
