Today we will be thinking about what is means to be assertive. We are going to look at the skills and strategies that somebody can use to deal with a situation where somebody wants to express their true feelings. Assertiveness is the ability to speak up for ourselves in a way that is honest and respectful.
Activity
With a family member act out the play script - see below. Try it with one of you being Sam and the other being Chris and then swap over.
Now look through the script and pick out all the ways that you think that Chris was being assertive. Talk about and make a list of different strategies e.g:
