Monday 1st March - English – Balanced Discussion Texts
This week we will be continuing our learning all about balanced discussion texts in English.
Today we will be thinking about the discussion question:
Should animals be kept in zoos?
Firstly have a think about your own opinion about this issue; have you visited a zoo eg Chester zoo? Do you think zoos are a good place to keep animals? Can you think of any arguments for and against keeping animals in zoos?

Activity – have a go at sorting the given statements about whether animals should be kept in zoos into for and against columns – see activities below. You could either cut them up or use the numbers to sort them.
Extension – can you add some arguments of your own for and against this issue? You could use the arguments on the following website too:

Today it is World Book Day !
Choose one of your favourite books – think back to when you were very young as well as recent favourites.
Activity - Design a fantastic new front cover for your book. Remember to include a ‘blurb’ or synopsis on the back of the cover to persuade the reader to purchase the book and want to read it. Please see book cover writing frame below.

Friday 5th March - English.
Activity - Please logon to your Education City and complete the following activity which is based on understanding what you read by identifying how language, structure and presentation contribute to meaning.
