Monday, 8th November - English
Today please re read the Caravan story which we read in class last week - see below.
Now think about different dangerous places that we might be warned against going to. Possible ideas are: abandoned/derelict houses, derelict theme parks, by a reservoir, near the railway line, ‘haunted’ houses or graveyards, the woods etc.
Have a look at some pictures of an old/abandoned house (using the online page www.derelictplaces.co.uk)
Activity - Pease write a list of different places that you could use to write your own 'Warning' story about. Now choose one of these places and create a labelled drawing of it. Include some effective descriptive words and phrases on your drawing.
English - Tuesday, 9th November
Today we will be planning out your own 'Warning' story, using the 'dangerous' location you chose yesterday.
Activity - please create a plan of your short story using bullet points and writing in short note form. Remember to include the opening of the story where the child is warned not to visit the place, the dilemma where some thing dangerous happens when the child ignores the warning, and the resolution of the story where the problem is solved and perhaps the child learns a lesson not to ignore warnings. Please use the Caravan story from Monday as your inspiration.
English - Wednesday, 10th November
Today, please use your planning ideas from yesterday to write the opening of your warning story (1-2 paragraphs), following the structure of The Caravan.
The Caravan story starts with dialogue, so please can you have a go at starting your story in the same way. Remember to include the following in your opening:
Thursday 11th and Friday 12th November - English - writing a warning story
